Just bought this laptop a few days ago (Oct. 2023). Dell is clearance these in this configuration, except with a 1 TB SSD (Gen4) for $850 (I got an additional $50 off with a SAVE50 promotion that is no longer offered). My cost was $799. I know it is one generation old, but your review was spot on and I feel it was well worth the price.

At 312 nits, I'm afraid the brightness is a little dim for my taste. However, I like everything else about it and for its price, it's not bad. The 16:10 screen, the removable SSD and Wi-Fi card as well as to at least be able to add the one stick of RAM that is not soldered in, the battery and 1080p webcam with good quality and good internal mic and good audio speakers and you have a machine here that will definitely get the work done. Great review. Thank you for the efforts. I have just placed my order for thr Dell Inspiron 14 plu 7430. Unfortunately, no one has reviewed the 7430 version of Dell inspiron 14 plus but rather only I can find videos for the 7420. Please do consider to review it :) 😊

I feel like this year, the Inspirons and Precisions are way more interesting than their consumer laptops. Looking forward to what they do with the new 14" and 16" form factors next year.

Got it for around $ 1000 at a local pc store sale. Really good for that price.

Nice PC. Camera and mics are good. Screen good. Comparing this to the XPS 9320 this seems better. Better port selection and better camera. Better upgradeability (upgradeable ram). XPS does offer better screen options. I have read that on some of the XPS 9320 that some of the OLED screens come loose and detach. Dell blames it on some third party adhesive they used on this. One has to question quality control. Comparing this to the 9315 I think Dell is going in the wrong direction on the 9315 soldering ssd to the motherboard. If the motherboard goes bad all the data is lost if not backed up. If I were choosing to buy a Dell 13 inch I would go with this over the XPS. Better price and this will easily get the job done.. Great review as always. Your reviews of these many PC's gives one the knowledge to make an intelligent decision when purchasing a PC.

Another thorough and helpful review - thanks! Very nice laptop and I love the color. The webcam quality looked really good and I was impressed by the sound. Very tempting. I am in a holding pattern for the iPad Pro 12.9 M1. Hoping prices will drop when the M2 is released. I will be using it a lot for my dog portrait and pattern design business.

The low end bass was really great on this laptop. I wonder how they achieved that sound with 2 watt miniscule speakers

If you want portability with power this is the laptop to get. What a beast. Also not that much more expensive than a base 7420 model. Well, relatively speaking when comparing other laptops of similar power and size.

One question about the ram, will it be possible to add a 32gb stick onto the available slot, hence making it 40gb ram. Will this work or cause any conflicts?

USB4 version 2.0 announced. At 80 Gbps, it has twice the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 4, if I'm not wrong. The Tide has turned.
