Fr. Stephen Imbarrato is good! When I’m hearing him, I instantly thought we have to be OBEDIENT. In a world that we have this “instant coffee” mindset, we need to learn something that isn’t instant; obedience and patience. Whenever God does answer them, it should glorify Him and humble us. If He doesn’t give it to us, then it’s not meant to be. It’s all in God timing.

I've prayed for things I've really really really wanted. I kept
praying and praying. God didn't answer my prayers. Guess what? I give all thanks and glory to Him now for saying no/not answering my prayer requests. They were stupid. They were for stupid and frivolous things. I look back and can't believe I thought those things were important. 😣🥺😑 God has answered many of my prayers concerning the Spiritual life, health of my son and family, protection against evil, etc.

I suggest anyone angry with God to read the book of Jonah. The story is short, but highly symbolic of the nature of God and the mission of Christ. It's one of my favorite books in the bible.

Jonah couldn't comprehend God's mercy on the city of Niniveh. His people has suffered a lot from the violent deeds of the Assyrians, so his anger is understandable from a human perspective. But God sees everything and knows everything. Unlike the Jews, the Ninevites didn't have the privilege of knowing God the way the Jews did, so they didn't know right from wrong, and the Jews suffered because of their violence.

Jonah wanted God to punish the Ninevites, and became angry when God showed them mercy upon their conversion. Still, God was patient with Jonah and taught him a lesson like how a father teaches his child.

The story shows us that, just because you're ignorant, foolish, and committed a lot of sins like the Ninevites, God is always merciful if you're willing to turn to him. Moreover, just because you're angry with God like Jonah doesn't mean God doesn't love you anymore. There are a lot of things that we, with our limited human capacity, cannot comprehend, so we blame God for not conforming to our own limited understanding. Yet, despite your anger, if you remain open to prayer instead of closing yourself off, he will certainly answer you in a way that even you can understand.

I’m in Wildwood, NJ every year for the Assumption & go to the mass & blessing of the sea. We all have bottles to collect the water. Such a wonderful celebration!

The story of the woman with the possessed child assenting to the jewish understanding of scripture and God could be used today with protestants and even Catholics, who more and more often seem to have ideas of/about God which differ from those which have been the constant teaching of the Church.

The Temple accepting pagan coins with an image of Baal seems to incriminate the high priests into some sort of mortal sin.

Actually, a study (wish I could remember the details) revealed that of all occupations, theologians ranked highest by far in IQ score. So, you could extrapolate from that further that belief in God really denotes the opposite of "simple folk". As a side note, in the same study, they said that firefighters measured the highest levels of testosterone. I forget which university did the study, it was a long time ago.

I am quite frustrated with the religious people that keep saying that we're angry at god. When we're explicitly describing the have that we just don't believe he exists.

How could Judas have a statue of Baal? He probably had a statue of Yahweh.

Hey, why is their no documentation from Lazarus, about his experience being dead?? Rome should have sent all their paperazi to interview the Judean brought back from the dead... He (Lazarus) could have been killed in Circus Maximus, and Jesus could have risen Lazarus from the dead there...

So you telling me that God loves you infinitely and he he sends tribulation, misfortune, illness, painful situation to test you, to prove your love?
And If you with all the common sense refuse those painful situations and naturally get angry with God for sending them, it's a sin? So not accepting the suffering is a sin? And yet it's punished in hell with more pain? That is a sick cruel god you believe.
Maybe its true. All he allows its for my personal good. But saying that doesn't give you comfort it gives you rage. To use pain and suffering to obtain a grater good only will make God be hated. Why loving the one who sends or allows your pain? It's an absurd.
Or maybe the problem is that god was never really clear with his plan because maybe a lot more wouldn't have followed it.
Let me explain. God is love he is happy because he loves. He once said what if there were others that can expirienc the same happiness I fell by loving. So he crates.
He gives rational creatures the possibility of being happy. Happiness its not a gift that god sends if you follow some rules like a dog obey for his price. Happiness its an effect for doing good, for loving.
Love is to will the good of the other. So simple yet so difficult and naturally rejected. But why?
Because non creature its good for nature its called to become good. Same for angels and for human. God could have made you in natural good with no pain and suffering but love couldn't exit in that state and you'll never expirienc happiness. That is what god wanted most.
So he tasted his creatures. Some he told to humiliate. Like if humiliation was esay. Its not its super painful more if you know is to something inferior. But that's the point. It has to pain it has to cost. That is how you truly prove you love. God cant create a saint god cant crate love. He can put circumstances that make possible love. But the saint its made when even in pain you want to will the good for the other. So the angel falls he didn't want to feel pain of the humiliation.
For human its infinitely more difficult. After the fall. Evil became pleasure and tendency and well painful and naturally rejected. But that's the point he allowed the fall.
Chastity could only exist in sexual tentation. Patience in struggling situations. And so the same applies to every virtu that exist. They only could exist with pain. That is why the fall wasn't and accident it formed part of the providence in order to bring a grater God. The possibility of true love.
Now that the human can feel pain he has the possibility of truly love and feel truly happiness.
God didn't create you to comfort and wellness. He created you to be happy. You are happy by loving. And love is willing the good for the other. But how can you will something that doesn't cost you? How can you prove it without contradiction? That is why tou need pain, it makes possible love. In fact the proof that God loves you is his Crux not the creation. If something doesn't cost then it's has no value. Applies for God to.
So finally why people goes hell? Because they don't want to suffer. Suffer the resistance of doing evil that seduces you. Suffer the practice of good that cost. Even if you tell them its for your good it will bring you happiness its a miracle that the human choose that.
God tells you "everything I've done everything I've wanted was you to be happy". And the human respond "I don't want to be happy if its gonna be trough pain""But i infinitely love you" God said. "And that is what hurts your love its painful it cames in form of a Crux" said the human and left.
Love and pain are the 2 side of the coins. One couldn't exit without the other. And human doesn't want pain that is why in all the old testament and new he betrayed God. When he understood that God wanted pain he betrayed.
