I recently bought an instant pot myself. But for things like cooking rice, I still use the stove.
Maybe it should be quicker but my instant pot takes 20 to 25 minutes to heat up. Add 3 minutes for cooking, 7 minutes for natural pressure release and half an hour later I have cooked rice. But when I use the stove, it only takes 2 minutes to heat up my kettle and pour the boiling water in the pan. Add rice and 12 minutes and voila, cooked rice in half the time my instant pot takes.

How do you check the pot during cooking? For regular pots, we just lift the cover as many times as we wish to make sure the food is coming along fine. I imagine we cant do this with the instapot as it has to be released and cool down before you can open it.

I'm trying to make steam eggs but somehow they always end up not silky, i see some people change the temperature when using the instant pot but I think theirs is an older version, is it not possible to change temperature on instant pot rio? Any tips on how to make steam eggs? :)

So like everyone else I use a Microwave like this. Put something in. Set on BLAST for 1 minute. Remove and stick my finger in to see if it is hot. So for me my Microwave needs 1 Setting... just one. BUT... If I get an instapot will I use any of the other buttons? It seems like what you did here was the equivalent of how I use my microwave... plus the 7 minute cool down. What do the other buttons do? Is there a Rice setting. You know like put in the rice and press the rice button then just forget about it. Or do I have to know how long to cook everything then release the steam at a certain time? Also there are so many models of Instapot. Do they all cook at the same speed. Is the 3 qt just as fast as the 6 qt? I need something small because my counterspace is so small. What say you... you seem to know your stuff. Thx
