I agree - the iPad Mini 5 is a hidden pearl. 👍🏼😊 Light, flexible and good performance. Love using it when reading books and newspapers and it is so easy to pull out when on the go.

I use my iPad Pro for illustrating and as a laptop replacement when I’m away from my iMac. It’s much better than any other iPad if you’re an illustrator, and I have no need to buy a MacBook anymore. 👍

I went through an IPad 2 (w/ Adonit Jot), IPad Air, iPad Pro 10.5, and finally a Pro 12.9 getting my doctorate. Using these with GoodNotes & Notability was lifesaving as I was able to locate, read, and organize research articles and course notes. For me, each of these were indispensable. I can’t imagine going through that without an iPad.

Convinced me to get the iPad Air 3 a while ago, and have been writing notes and doing university work on it. Best decision I’ve made. I appreciate the little extra screen real estate and the lighter body as I only use it for notes and have a separate MacBook for typing and such. Very productive set up in my opinion.

The way I go:
Phone. Iphone (SE)
Tablet for field work (Ipad pro 2020 with magic keyboard, pen and ofcourse the airpods.
Computer: Laptop - Msi gs65 Stealth 95F with RTX 2070.

That is the exact combination for my needs.

I use the ipad pro 3rd edition 12.9. Great device: fast, big screen, usbc and amazing ipados. I bought the air 3 for my son and I realize it’s a great alternative to the ipad pro.

I have both the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 and the iPad mini 5. The iPad Pro has replaced my laptop on my desk and like Tom i take the mini on the road with me where the smaller size has been much more convenient. Granted, its a little more money, but the best of both worlds.

I was having a hard time choosing an iPad as I’m moving overseas SE Asia. I ended up buying the Air 3 and crayon with Logitech . I turned it into a small computer with Logitech combo touch. It’s small but powerful and with a fully functional trackpad makes this a cheaper version of MacBook Air. Thank you as this video really makes me feel I made the right choice!

With all due respect to Tom, I think he makes amazing videos with incredible content and I'm all for paperless note taking as well but I have to respectfully disagree to an extent. Let me start of by saying that I don't think any iPad, not even the iPad Pro can replace a fully functioning laptop. I'd definitely recommend getting a tablet as a secondary device and maintaining a decent laptop as your primary device be it a Windows laptop or a Macbook for our Apple users out there.

I use the double tap feature so frequently so investing in the iPad Pro (2018) and 2nd Gen Apple Pencil was the best decision I made. Had Apple revamped the current iPad Air with a slightly more modern design and 2nd Gen Apple Pencil compatibility, I wouldn't be saying this, but they didn't.

I'm not trying to dis the iPad Air and 1st Gen Apple Pencil as an alternative. In terms of performance, most people may not be able to tell the difference. However, If you're willing to make the compromise of charging the Apple Pencil by sticking it into the lightning port of your tablet or getting a separate charger for it and lose the double tap functionality which I honestly feel is so useful, then go for it. Let's also not forget that pairing requires you to stick it into your device each time you need to pair it to use it, between spaced intervals and let's be honest, it's only a matter of time before most of us would end up losing the cap that covers the lightning plug leaving it vulnerable to damage if it's not replaced. It's just not worth the hassle. Also, it's worth getting a 3rd party case like the Zugu case to keep your Apple Pencil stored more securely. Apple's keyboard folio is not really worth it for people particular about tactile feedback on a keyboard. To be honest, it's an accessory that should have been included for free with the iPad Pro models.

The 2nd Gen Apple Pencil with it's uni-body design attaches magnetically to the side of the iPad Pro and both charges and pairs at the same time.

On top of that, you're missing the industry standard USB Type-C port available on the iPad Pro where as every other Apple tablet uses lightning. Even if you're a student and you've made decision to move towards paperless note taking, most students may opt for the iPad Air because of the decent amount of screen real estate and decent price, but I'd still suggest investing a bit more and going for the iPad Pro. This is a device that will last you easily for years with it's powerful hardware. Having said that, the 12.9-inch variant of the iPad Pro is an oversized behemoth that honestly is only worth it if you need it for art or drawing of any kind or plan to use it as a laptop replacement. The 11-inch variant is perfect.

If you're a college student, you're going to be doing a lot of homework, studying and note taking and you need a powerful tablet to get your work done. It doesn't matter if you don't plan to edit videos or photos on it, you'll feel truly satisfied investing a bit more and getting a better product. Students can easily blow $300 on things that are non-essential but the iPad Pro is an investment worth making especially if you stretch out that $300 over a 4 year period of college or even longer. If you truly don't care, actually like the antiquated design of the iPad Air and the inconveniences that come with the 1st Gen Apple Pencil, bearing in mind, it's not exactly still cheap to get an iPad Air and the Apple Pencil to boot, then by all means, go for it or even the regular iPad which supports the 1st Gen Apple Pencil. IMHO, it's worth setting aside a little money and making a wise investment as a student in getting a powerful tool that will help you with your school work.

I’ve had a bunch of tablets through the years (Motorola Xoom, Nexus 7, several iPad Minis, several Galaxy Tab As, several basic LTE Android tabs, and most recently the last gen 9.7” iPad w/LTE). I just picked up a iPad Pro 11”. I use the 9.7 a lot for work in the field, and the pro is more for media consumption and creation. The aspect ratio of the non-pro iPads is awful for movies.

Ipad Pro 11 is 899€ with 128Gb
Ipad Air 3 (old gen now) is 739€ with 256Gb
I''ll buy the Pro, thank you.

HI everybody, I bought an IPad last week. I decided to buy the IPad Pro 2017 instead of the IPad Air 2019. Reason is the better display and the speakers.
I enjoy the IPad and think I made the right decissionen for me. Cheers

Use my normal iPad just for note taking and web browsing. I bought it for less than $300 when it was on sale and it’s been used everyday for the last year. A few months ago, I was at a conference and did not have my pencil, I decided to flip my iPad horizontal mode and start typing like it was a keyboard. To my surprise it worked just fine for me. For those who do not need beefy specs the basic iPad is a superb value.

For a teaching or performing musician, there is really no contest. I have not regretted my 12.9” iPad Pro purchase once. It fits on a music stand; the music is big enough to read; and you can pencil in performance notes during a rehearsal. You can even attach a device to enable difficult page turns with a foot pedal. The sound is good enough to use in an instrumental lesson while a pupil is playing, and they can still hear it as loud as their own playing. The uses in that context are many and varied. I do hope it doesn’t go the way of the 17” MacBook Pro because many musicians would be gutted.
