Finally a review that’s not sponsored that actually shows what this product is like!! I cancelled my order and I’m glad I did.

This review feels like it was made by someone who isn’t part of the intended market for these kinds of screen protectors.

For people who use their iPads primarily for drawing and note taking, textured screen protectors are a must. They improve the writing/drawing experience drastically. I have been using one for a few months now and I absolutely love it. If you want to use your iPad primarily for illustrating or for note-taking, get a matte screen protector.

The dislikes are from YouTubers benefiting from Paperlike money. LOL.

As an artist and student that primarily takes my notes on my iPad, I'd say that its worth it. I have an iPad pro and while I have noticed the dimness outside and some minimal markings (the markings can be wiped away so its really not an issue), I think the purchase was great for me.
I think it depends what you're getting an iPad for, cause if its just viewing experience then I don't know why people are even considering at that point.
If you're an artist or planning to take notes, get it no questions asked.

As an artist the pros outweigh the cons and I would still recommend buying a paper like or any brand of matte screen protector

I can attest to this: I've used the paperlike on the same 12.9inch iPad and experienced identical results. I've just accepted the grainy quality at this point because I personally do not like the feeling of writing with a plastic tip on glass. However, I would much rather have the Ipad's screen quality returned.

Some reviewers also mentioned how quickly it wore down their pencil tips.

The "noise" is something all matte screen protectors will have, so you have to deal with it if you want that paper experience. Paperlike is good at being softer and its better on our pen tip, but it actually scratches easily. While other matte screen protectors dont scratched easier but will tear down your pen tip faster. So you kind of have to choose here

i feel like i need to join this discussion. i also have the m1 ipad pro 12.9 as well as the paperlike screenprotector. i agree that you get this "kind of noise" on the screen. ok for me because it's marketed as a screenprotector for people who use the pencil and not for people who mostly color-grade on their ipad. further the scratches shown by Ben are nuts. i use my ipad 6 days a week 7 hours a day with the pencil and my paperlike is as new as it was when i applied it one month ago.

so i agree if you would like to mostly color-grad don't buy the paperlike. but as said paperlike is for people who need the ipad mostly for drawing and not color-grading or other "only-display" related tasks, because to use lightroom i don't think you need the paper feeling of the faders... ;)

totally agree with that outdoor glare being super annoying, but paperlike has been super useful for me as a digital artist ^_^ it’s way more comfortable to draw on my ipad pro now as opposed to the glass screen alone, but i can understand that if art isn’t the primary use for your ipad, or you aren’t drawing with it on a regular basis, paperlike would be more of a nuisance than an improvement with the glare and screen quality and such ;-)

Well, if you add a paper which turns your surface more rough, what do you expect to happen xD Ofc there is gonna be some refraction, but this is basically for people who cares more about the touch & feel, rather than 100% screen quality. And no, it is not supposed to reduce screen glare outside, reflected light it is always gonna be coming from the roughness of the surface, so if it is reflecting a point light, that reflection always will be wider. This is for 2 kind of people. FIRST: Ilustrators, concept artists or whoever uses the apple pencil for something else than a random note writting. SECOND: For the people who hates fingerprint marks all over the screen.

I hope all this info helps, I bought paperlike 2 and had it for over a year.

I draw on my iPad and traditional paper all the time. I’ve gotten used to a glass screen protector and it’s actually kinda fun—full color and brightness, easy to clean, and completely silent. It also subtly encourages me to work on paper first and ink on the iPad, though it’s perfectly fine for starting from scratch on the iPad

I found a magnetic matte screen protector on Amazon. I put it on when I’m drawing then take it off when I’m done. I have a glass screen protector under. Works out so much better since I’ve all heard is negative things about the viewing experience when using the paperlike.

Every single engineering student at my university with an iPad uses the paper like protector. For note taking, it’s incredible. For me, the trade offs weren’t worth it, but for everyone else it seems to be

Im excited to report that I've had none of these issues so far, I've had it for about 3 weeks now. Maybe it's based on brand or version? I have no scratches, but I’m also not an artist so my wear may be different. Resolution isn’t an issue for me either; and sound really doesn’t bother ME.

I’ve been using a paper like screen protector for a month now. There are obvious downsides like you have said on the video but as a university student, I use my iPad to take notes all the time. After getting the paper-like screen protector I’ve found that I actually enjoy writing more than I did before hand. If your using the iPad primarily for University/College, it’s a good experience and I’d highly recommend but if not then you should avoid it.

The screen vignetting has nothing to do with the paperlike protector. It is inherent in the new M1 12.9 miniled screen design. Other reviewers have mentioned this, and I have noticed the vignetting on my ipad without a screen protector

I use my Ipad as a drawing tablet. I was able to get used to drawing on it without this type of screen protector, and honestly the smoothnes feels oddly satisfying to draw on. I also use my Ipad as a notebook, and it took some time to get used to, but I’ve gotten used to writing on it too

speaking from an illustrators point of view, paper like is awesome in the sense that it does give great texture and works well with the feel of drawing on the iPad Pro. I have a few points, number one I think that its over priced and that can really make people want to blame it for allot of things going wrong with their experience. I have buyers remorse every time I order a new set of paper like for sure, the good out weights the bad separate from the price .... the price is just bad and can cause me to find reasons to return it. I don't think other reviewers are giving bad reviews and or paid reviews ( I follow a decent amount of the well known reviewers as well as the not so well known ) everyone has said and or brought up allot of your points in their reviews . Like someone said in the comment the good of paper like out weights the bad. Number two, I bought paper like knowing the fact that its texture can do damage to my nib through time as well as it creating a somewhat muted version of the actual brightness of the iPad. I find some of your findings ( especially in regards to photography ) as a bit exaggerated, I find my photos to not be as heavily effected by paper like at all . I think editing on an iPad should always be taken with a grain of salt in the sense that you will go to one extreme or the other .. with the paper like your colors might be a tad muted but not so overly effected that you cannot get the sum of what your working on, same as when without the paper like the colors can be a bit over saturated and not so true to its supposed colors. Working on a tablet has its pros and Cons in my eyes and cannot beat using a properly calibrated monitor. I know this is your experience and I get it, but I've been using paper like for over 3 years ( from the first version to this one ... TBH either or works great ) and I've gotten the total opposite experience with it . I know the one thing that will always be a major con, enough for me to find other faults with it is the price. That price makes me hate it and won't allow me to give it a rave review on my own channel, I felt the need to mention my experience here to sway others from going the alternative route, I've tried almost all the alternatives and I assure you paper like is the shit . Paper like will never get more from me then this, because again the price got me admittedly pissed and I am very petty at this point . I will sub though because your channel looks cool peace !!
