Can’t agree more. I never had issues with my Mazda, Subaru and Lexus. Each one has their own unique known features with great reliability.

For quality it is really hard to go wrong with the Japanese brands listed here. When I replaced my short-lived Santa Fe I went with Mazda CX5 because of availability and price. I've also owned Honda and Toyota and they were fantastic also.

I was surprised to see Kia ranked above Hyundai! Totally agree, can’t beat Toyota. No surprise there.

Going into my second year with my 2019 Toyota SE & love it, especially after owning two Ford Explorers, they got very expensive after 100, 000 miles & the repairs were constant. Just wish I would have woke up sooner.

Thank you so very much for all you have taught us. We began this journey after my husband had MAJOR surgery in July, a 5 cabbage bypass! it became clear to us two RVers in our seventies we needed to down grade and sell our RV. But what to buy? I was attracted to crossovers but did not even know the difference between a crossover and a SUV. I turned to youtube and discovered you. The research was a 5 month project wanting to make the once in a lifetime best purchase. I sit now recovering from surgery my husband pulling into our driveway with our 2024 LexusRX450h+ plug-in! After coming to this conclusion you can only imagine the reassurance when our most respected youtube adviser ranked it number!
Question. A Canadian or English youtube lady said Plug in crossover with a 120 outlet can be used without the motor on for heat or air conditioning when camping. Please explain

I really appreciate your research and knowledge. I’m wanting to go back to sales after moving 2 years ago but though Honda is my brand, where I’m hoping to move to the dealership isn’t well respected and contemplating other brands. Really surprised with how quickly Mazda has increased their “A” game

Mazda uses a tire pressure monitoring system with no batteries in the wheels to eventually fail. Subarus have new spark plugs recommended every 30 thousand miles.

Great great car bands over the years have improved their prices and service on maintenance only services cause you have to do that. If your cars are actually reliable, so brake pads become cheaper or changes become cheaper tires become cheaper they were way too expensive back in the day relatively speaking, so that’s a queue to look for

surprised to see subaru ahead of mazda, with all of the serious and widely-known issues with both the forester and outback

I'm looking at getting a new 2024 Hyundai Sonata. I've known many people to find this brand reliable, especially with their 10 year/100, 000 mile warranty. Have their vehicles improved over the years as a whole?

People complain they have to spend X amount of dollars to fix their car but don’t bat an eye when they spend 5 figures on a yearly vacation trip.
I know someone who does this and drives around in Toronto in a $80k Ford F150 with bald tires during winter because they don’t want to spend money on tires.

Unfortunately Lexus is very expensive to repair with certain things that you can’t have Toyota do or a local mechanic. I’m learning this the hard way now sigh.

I noticed the Subaru Forrester reliability is superior to the Outback(CR reliability).. Both use the 2.5L FB25 engine as standard, but only the Outback has the turbo option. It seems to me the turbo drags down the Outback reliability? Also the Forrester still uses a more reliable previous generation entertainment system instead of the more buggy upgrade in the Outback

It seems Acura is 3rd and Honda 4th, and behind Toyota and Lexus is fair, but Honda/ Acura more fun to drive which affects reliability as they are pushed more

I always like your reviews. It is good to use more than one source of information instead of just relying on CR. Using CarEdge and I See Cars balanced out the questionable reviews from CR. I agree mostly with the top 10, but not the European cars. They are horrible money pits.

I've had a 2005 TSX for 19 yrs. now. Only major repair was a new alternator about a year ago. Otherwise just maintenance. Owned an Accord for 10 yrs. before that and nothing major. I'm looking at Lexus hybrid NX or UX or maybe Venza for next car within 6 months or so.
