You've done something most Brits haven't done. Looks awesome.

Nicely done Spencer. I'd eat that. For sure, your British chippy experiences are helping you gain the result you want.

Great effort dude! you should be proud of that. If I'm gonna be picky though, as an old school Yorkshireman, Beef dripping is the only and best way to fry the chips in, and leave the fish whole - ideally fresh in that morning, none of that frozen or supermarket shite! I never use a thermometer but 30 odd years of making them I'd like to think I can manage without. You need to keep the oil/dripping you fried the chips in for next time - fresh never gets the best results. Again, I'm an 'old school' salt and vinegar bloke but put on em whatever you like. First thing to do with fish and chips, though, is make a chip butty while the chips are hot and the butter drips down your fingers 😁

Just leave the fish whole, you'd never see a Brit chop it into pieces, looked ok for a first attempt though, chips looked passable but not amazing, you really want them to get to that point where they sort of start dissolving a bit on the edges and get all crispy and crunchy, giving them a quick blanch can really help that, but remember if you do blanch it's really important to soak them in cold water again before frying, as putting warm raw potatoes in hot oil makes can make the fat boil over the edge of the pan, and if doing small batch frying at home try some hard fat like beef dripping as that's when you start getting elite level fish and chips!

If you're doing fries with potatoes like that, for chips, you can put them in cold oil and crank the heat up, by the time the oil has come up to temp and the chips are floating they're done. You'll get cooked inside and crispy outside. It's a cheat to the three times cooked chips without having to double cool them before trying. Clearly with this method you don't get to shake them up, and you only get to do it once with the old oil, but it does mean you can then reuse the oil rather than having to filter it due to the crispy bits left behind and the oil will be up to temp for your fish to be added.

As a Brit I say this looks 10 out of 10 and I'm now jealous of your dinner.

Never hear of old bay or any other seasonings other than salt, pepper and chip shop vinegar as seasonings for our British fish and chips. Beer batter is not normally a chip shop thing. The vinegar in fish and chips is not actually vinegar, it is a type of acid which is sold as chip shop vinegar on Amazon. These days when ordering fish and chips you get Alaskan pollock unless you specify that you want cod as pollock is cheaper and more sustainable. Haddock is more a northern fish and cod is a southern thing.

Not 100% authentic british fish and chips, but you've done a great job and probably a lot tastier than some british chippes

@Embracethesuck21, Your GoPro light comes with a white silicone cover that goes over the front, it looks like just a cover But it doubles as a light diffuser to prevent you from blinding yourself. Also. The GoPro12 is voice activated

Even when you make home made fish and chips in the UK its not not the same as chip shop fish and chips.. Home made isn't really as popular for that reason..

Made this hundreds of times in my lifetime bro to the point of not needing a thermometer etc.. and made it slightly different every time experimenting with the batter and different types of fish, sausages and anything else that can be battered and fried..yh personally I like my batter fried a touch more and darker but hey buddy you did good 👍✌️✌️

Good job man, I probably would have fried it for another few minutes just give the batter a little extra colour. Must try it with Halibut. It's mostly Cod, Pollock or Whiting here

Looks great. You can never make fish and chips the exact 0:27 same as a chippy from home. But this looks like a great effort. Looks very tasty. However I will say there is nowt wrong with just having salt and vinegar on your fish and chips but you are quite right to add what ever you fancy

Why are Americans obsessed with 'seasoning' chips?
Just salt and malt vinegar is all you need on chips.

Great job, you could get a job in a chippy now❤

I was prepared to give you some grief over this. But blimey, looks good, I'm impressed. (Still not as good as the local chippy though 😜)
