💻 Want to keep your laptop hinges from breaking? Here’s a simple trick that helps prevent costly repairs and keeps your laptop in top shape for years!

🔹 Best Way to Open & Close Your Laptop Properly:
✔ Always open from the center using two fingers to apply even pressure.
✔ Avoid opening from the corners—this stresses one hinge more than the other.
✔ Close the laptop with even pressure to prevent hinge wear & screen damage.

🚀 Most laptop screens are thinner than ever, making proper handling even more important!

NOTICE! :
Opening the laptop as you show here MAY distribute the force evenly, but the hinges will still break at some point as they age, or even most-likely break before their lifespan, OR may destroy the plastic and render the hinge useless.. And that is because of one thing....Tensional stress.
Manufacturers release almost all laptops with their hinges very tight, just to achieve that "premium feel".
What worked for me is, Loosening those hinge bolts JUST A LITTLE BIT (evenly ofcourse). That way, there's enough firmness to hold the screen on it's own, and to open and close the screen isn't a matter of life and death.

Well, hope this helps ☺

I’ve known about this for a while. I remember when I cracked the LCD on my dad’s laptop because I used to close it wrong

thx man seems like the acer laptops hinges get bad even if u do open it the right way. best thing to do is to leave it open. but everything is man made so sometimes things go bad thats just how it is

great video!
but if you are using the laptop in a fixed location to work for example. What would be better for longevity?

I believe it is always leaving it with the screen open after turning it off.

Also, is there an ideal angle that puts less pressure on the screen with the laptop open?

I had a hinge break on me but I'm also in the market for a new laptop so took it as a sign to buy a new one.

Ever noticed why hinges are made of plastic instead of metal which is naturally flexible? It's because laptops want them to break in the first place so you can buy a new one.

I learned something new thanks to you, man. I’ll never forget this. I’ll be extra careful on my new F15 laptop to make those hinges last even longer, after all it was advertised to have excellent (military grade) build quality on the palm rest which it does have. And my bro shouldn’t worry about having to repair his new laptop for a few years. He had an HP laptop since Christmas 2017 that broke its hinge in 5 years, got that repaired but we barely use it nowadays because of how goddamn slow it became, to the point of being barely usable despite loading from an SSD which we replaced it with. It got so slow to the point where I just couldn’t take it anymore. That’s the reason I bought an ASUS F15 laptop from Amazon for my birthday this year. I also have a Lenovo Thinkpad T470 which I got refurbished last year from Best Buy online which I intend for work. My bro got an Acer Aspire recently and he said he’ll take extremely good care of it. And I trust him when he said that.

Actually, this is what I used to do with my (now very old) laptop until the connectors were slowly breaking and I was advised to hold it on the sides instead after having the hinge repaired
