Funding Campaign (had to change to Indiegogo)

This is just an update and Q&A regarding the status of the event.

and YES, we have reached the P1000 GOAL!!!!

The Pontchartrain causeway.

Bridge parallel to causeway.

The arc of the water surface concentric to the causeway.

No optics. No gravity oriented instruments, just gps.

Done.

I wonder if people are really grasping the scope of this experiment. 1600 m. That's the length of my local airstrip.
This is no small task, and a man who attempts it deserves a certain amount of respect and admiration - even from people who disagree. They're incapable of the respect part, but that doesn't mean it isn't deserved.

And STILL there's thumbs down on this video... WHY?? One would think this is in the best interrest for EVERYONE, sphere earth believers AND flat earth believers! Guess I was wrong then...

Your work is criminally underrated! Best of luck!

Really looking forward to seeing the results for this. For ages now I've been imagining a similar setup for an observation. But the costs and practicality are overwhelming.

I don't know how many vertical tubes you're looking to have set up, and whether anyone is going to attend and assist you, but one of my ideas was to put a stopper into the top of each tube while you're filling the whole setup with water, to create a random, irregular water height in each tube. Then when all the tubes have water in them, set the cameras rolling and have people remove the stoppers all at the same time. Depending how quickly the water levels out, it'd be a good video or timelapse of the water leveling itself into a nice curve!

I live by St Bee’s and if I win that P1000 I’m going to sit on that hill like a nesting seagull taking pictures of the Isle of Man.

Sly - As you stated, the chore of the test will be aligning the bottom parallel markers. In order to maximize objectivity, minimize confirmation bias, and add additional validation to your observations, I offer the following suggestions for you to consider for your well thought-out experiment:
1. Once the tubes are set up on the supports, but before filling them, cover or visually obscure all of the tubes (except the end tubes) so that the water level in the intermediate tubes is kept unknown until the marks are made. Then fill the tubes, sight along the two end tubes, and make your marks for the parallel lines on the supports.
2. After making the parallel marks from one end, cover or visually obscure the marks, and repeat the process from the other end, using a different camera, scope or whatever, and a different observer.  Comparing the marks will give you an idea of your accuracy over the length of the experiment.
3. As an additional test, since your accuracy should be twice as good from end-to-center as it is from end-to-end, sight along one end tube and the tube next to it, and mark where the extension of that line intersects the middle tube. Do this from both ends. On a flat surface, the marks should be at the same level as the original parallel mark. On a curved surface, they will be considerably higher, even higher than the water level in the center tube.
4. After all the marks are made and the water levels are marked, verify that the water level is accurately set up by adding more water to one tube to raise the water level a specific amount in that tube, and verify that the water rises the same amount in each of the other tubes. You could also drain from the connecting tube in steps, and verify that the water level in each tube goes down an equal amount.
5. It may not be possible due to the weight of the filled tubes, but a definite proof of level would be to move the end tube to the center after all the measurements are complete, to show that they are indeed at the same level.
I’m impressed with your initiative, and can’t wait to see the results.

I would suggest that rather than just give this a thumbs down, explain why the thumbs down. If it’s because there is something you feel there is a flaw in the experiment, then speak up. I’m sure Sly would rather have flaws pointed out so they can be addressed. That said, I think most flat earthers know what the outcome of this experiment will show so they are already in damage control mode because they are not interested in truth.

A great collect of useful clips. Congratulations on the funding success. And finally, check your email!

Wow Sly! I didn't even know you did all those tests that you showed at the beginning. The microphone guard to reduce wind is a brilliant idea!

Sly, I mentioned this before, don't know if you saw it or not.

If you use clear vertical tubes, get some floating LED lights and let the experiment stand until dark, and you'll get a lighted arc too.

Hi there. I noticed that you made a contribution of $25 to the campaign, I wonder if this goes against Indiegogo rules :
" You, or anyone acting on your behalf, may not make Contributions to your Campaign--we call these “self-contributions.” Self-contributions are prohibited both by Indiegogo and our payment processor, and either Indiegogo or our payment processor may take actions like rejecting or blocking Contributions for any length of time or suspending your Indiegogo account, if either Indiegogo or our payment processor, in our sole discretion, discovers self-contributions. "

Sly- I hope you take a photo of each tube as you walk the line and splice them into time lapse. that would be cool. You probably already have this in mind. Bye from Captain Obvious.

You could put a flat earth on a rocket and blast him to the moon and he would still look back and say its the helmet or the window making the earth look round

The scientic method (shortened version)
Scientific version
1. A theory is proposed
2. Scientists try to disprove it
3. If successfully and repeatably disproved, the theory goes out the window

Flerfer version

3. If successfully and repeatably disproved, the proof goes out the window

Congrats on reaching the goal so fast, this will be exciting! Some month ago you talked about an experiment on the March equinox. I would like to participate in that. What do you want us to do?

In FE and I reckon it’s an awesome experiment!!! Looking forward to it.

Once things have settled, a bit of kitchen stretch wrap stuck over each pipe opening would do the job (a bit of tape would work too, peel it back to let things level out then close it so you don't have to worry about wind driven pressure differences sloshing the water. (A pinhole in the tape would suffice if people are worried about closing the tube)

Would the Germans really object to food-grade dye? I never saw that clear tubing loop before. I need to look into that!
