Everyone's seen ads for those shrinking garden hoses, that shrivel up into a little ball when you're not using them. And millions of people are buying them. But have you checked some of the reviews posted online?

My wife loved the expandable hose. Until it didn't work anymore. She then left me for some other expandable hose. 😂😂😂

The idea is to look at the reviews BEFORE purchase

A commercial grade rubber hose will last 25 years of regular use. Bulky and heavy..yes, but will deliver the volume of water for any need. My experience with the expanding and the spiral metal hoses is that you're lucky if you get 1 year of regular use from them, and the inner diameter is too small for many situations.

I feel the "I was just trying to be nice to my wife, she didn't even know I ordered them" lol

I have rubber hoses that are almost 20 years old and work fine.
Once done watering, make sure you relieve the pressure inside the hose. Otherwise, a hot hose sitting in the sun will expand and split, or crack.

Must just be a certain manufacturer because I have two of the shrinking hoses and both work perfectly with all attachments. Couldn't be happier with them.

Can't go wrong with a watering can. Sure it takes longer, but if you love your garden, all the more reason to spend more time in it. Especially Dave Kapp's garden. It's very pretty.
I needed this video recommendation 10 years ago, not 10 seconds ago.

I work in a Hardware store and sell a LOT of these hoses. They're utter garbage but people over the age of 60 just can't stop buying them for some reason. Some of our customers go thru 3 or 4 hoses a year.

The problem with these hozes is that when the nozzle is closed and you open the tap, the hoze expands perfectly and looks like you'll be getting good water pressure. However, as soon as you open the nozzle the hoze's shape collapses and retracts considerably. So not only do you lose the working length of hoze, you lose perhaps over half the potential water pressure. They're clearly not adequate for their intended purpose.

I have yet to have one last more than 2 years. I'm going back to the old style hoses that last 5+ years.

You have to shut the water off at the spicket then shut down sprayer so the pressure doesn't build up and pop the balloon inside hose

It all depends on the brand. Many copycats of the original one are made poorly.

When we sell them (different brand) we always recommend the following: don't leave them pressurized, don't leave them sitting in the sun, they are for light use, and to extend their life install a pressure reducer before the hose.
