Here in Italy, one of the strange thing i have experienced is to talk about food with a total stranger. In the italian culture, talking about food ; what you had for breakfast, what you will have for dinner etc, is a way to start a conversation. In fact it is absolutely normal.

The no kitchen in rental place are the same in my country but that just means it’s going to be less pricey.

You really want to have a "small talk" with the cashier while people standing in the line?🤬🤬
It´s like worshiping the devil 🤣🤣 in my "German" perception. It´s grocery shopping not a family reunion. I mean as long as the cashier is not finished maybe i am change some words, but some people have an exchange that takes time like all "lord of the rings" movies together.
