Meet the man with 3 wives and 12 children!

In the middle of the Utah desert, 14 Fundamentalist Mormon families have made a unique home for themselves, a safe haven where they are free to practice a way of life that’s met with both fascination and suspicion.

Living in contemporary ‘cave’ houses that have been carved into the side of an enormous sandstone rock, half of the men here are polygamists - they are married to multiple wives.

I dont have any issue with someone having multiple spouses as long as when they are married both parties are consenting adults...like 21+. What grown adults choose to do should not be anyone body elses concern. The issues is when people are marrying children!

My husband is an amazing man. When he looks into my eyes I know he loves me, I feel it in my gut, see it in our friendship, it is out life, I am very lucky to be married to him. Watching this I felt sadness for these women who doesn’t know that they are his whole world. She is only part of it. 😥

You can't tell me these women are not jealous of the others. They just don't show it because they don't want to upset their so-called husband. It's like being married and having affairs. He should not be asking those kids about him courting. In the Bible it does not say a man can have more than one wife.

I feel so sorry for the woman who has to stay home with all those kids while the other two women go out to work. Being a stay at home mom is so much harder than any other job! Other than that, these families seem to be among the healthier polygamist families I've learned about. The fact Lydia gets to choose who she marries is relatively "progressive" compared to the Kingstons and FLDS where the women are treated like property with absolutely no rights.

No matter what group they belong too, women in polygamy always say the same thing. "I'd rather have part of a good man then having 100% of a man who wasn't good". That sounds exactly like what a narcissistic man would say. Why don't these women look for 100% of a good man? C'mon girls! Believe in yourself & know in your heart that a man & woman makes a team. You don't need or should want to just be a name on his roster.

It’s really hard to know how to feel about this. Polygamy has caused to much harm and abuse especially at the hands of fundamentalists, but this community seems to be doing well. The families seem to have what they need to be healthy and happy. I mean… this is what it should be like, not women and children eating next to nothing and being abused physically and emotionally everyday.
