2008’s Iron Man kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was the foundation for what has become a multi-billion dollar cinematic franchise involving characters like Thor, Captain America, The Guardians of the Galaxy and many, many more. With how crazy stuff has become in the MCU, we thought we’d take a look back at how it all started and step inside the pitch meeting that led to Iron Man starring Robert Downey Jr. What was up with those awful terrorists in Afghanistan and their inability to keep an eye on their captive? Why would they provide him with a bunch of weapon material and leave him unsupervised? What exactly was Obadiah Stane AKA Iron Monger trying to do? His plan doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. So step inside the pitch meeting for Iron Man! It’s super easy, barely an inconvenience.

I realise now that every single movie pretty much makes no sense when you break it down

And to think, nearly a decade later that cheeseburger would make people cry around the world. Life is amazing.

"Wouldn't that also kill Tony?" "It would and it should but it won't" is literally the plot to just about every Marvel movie.

I'm surprised he didn't include something along the lines of "Couldn't Tony just get surgery to remove the shrapnel so that he wouldn't have to constantly keep an arc reactor in his chest?" But I guess arc reactors are TIGHT!

"Well, his name is Obadiah Stain, so I figured he's either the bad guy or a general in the American Civil War" :D:D:D

You should have added
"At the end of the movie, he admits he's Iron man"
"Superheros aren't supposed to do that, why would he?"
"Because"
"Fair enough"

Iron Man literally has a button on the suit called the "Super Easy, Barely an Inconvenience" button.

George: Wouldn’t that also kill Tony?

Ryan: It would, and it should *but it won’t*

The way Ryan says "I don't know" gets me every time. It's as if he's not supposed to know and he's confused why he's asked in the first place.

The actual pitch meeting for this was actually:
"So you have a script for me?"
"No, sir, I don't"
"Oh you, don't? How come?"
"Well, we thought we will just wing it and see what happens!"
"That works!"

"It would, and it should, but it won't" The word flow is genius.

Why not have a guy in a room to suprevise them?
- Because.
That works.

I always wondered how stane survived from his fall without any injury, but war machine in a better suit and shorter fall gets paralyzed.

This should be in Netflix’s binge worthy section. Bruv I’ve watched like 30 of these in a week. Insane stuff
