The confusion when the first notes of Rick Astley's song is sung and the shift when Rebecca hesitated singing 'goodbye' is what blows me away. It's the subtle way of telling us, that even if she hated her dad for cheating on her mother, she still loved him and misses him. Hannah gave us amazing performance here, holly shit.

The fact that she was able to sell this moment, and with so much nuance on top of the emotion that absolutely shouldn't work this well, is insane. What a talent.

Once again Ted is the beacon of hope. I mean what a guy. He’s the last one to show up and yet he’s the only one who helped Rebecca with the song (at first) to get her motivated to continue.

This scene perfectly captures how and why this show is so good. Emotional scenes that hit you to the core, coupled with comedic moments with insanely great timing.

As a writer I personally feel that this show, both seasons, have been amazing and well deserved of the Emmy wins that it garnered. It is in the shows best interest to have the focus shift amongst all the different characters, otherwise things get stale fast. For example, the episode with Beard was a brilliant homage to Scorsese, ( his film "After Hours") who as you know they have referenced before on the show (the episode where they remove the curse, for example). I give a lot of respect to these writers, it is very hard to keep putting out a consistently good product regularly
