The writing on this show is brilliant. The overarching themes of forgiveness and second chances, optimism, the importance fathers in men’s lives very powerful.

I love that they treated Beard's appearance at the door like a horror movie.

"For stealing a loaf of meth." is an underrated line.

Beard's monologue was great and all but this was Ted's greatest manipulation. "I hope we are all all judged by our weakest moment or none of us are." Delivered with smile and optimism at the moment of their highest achievement so far. Beard had no other way than to remember how it all could have been different for him and that it is time to pay it forward. He threatened Rupert with darts same way. I like this dimension of Ted's character. Kinda makes him more complete. People always connect manipulation with negative or selfish results but even in this Ted is different. When he manipulates it is only to help. Roy got manipulated into being a captain, Beard into forgiveness.

Edit: We've established in comments that term "manipulation" is wrong one. "Influencing" is correct term here. It's a lost in translation mistake because my language has single word for both.

I've watched this several times now, and laugh every time Beard says "for stealing a loaf of Meth"

I love Nate's smile after Beard forgives him. And I love Ted so much for the gentle, but powerful way he gets his point across.

I love this scene. Beard shed a tear as did I. Forgiveness and redemption...it's life changing.

One of the hardest lessons I learned was that forgiveness unburdened me more than most I forgive. This was a very well written scene.

Beard never blinks. Powerful scene. Emmy worthy.

At 0:38 you can see Nate push the bin out with his foot for the cleaning crew 😂

I absolutely adore this scene for Beard's incredible subtlety. Especially his tone on the line "Then I stole from my friend." It's so clear that despite his previous mistakes landing him in prison it was what he did to Ted that he truly felt guilty for. And later, how his body relaxes as he hugs Nate, visibly committing to his own forgiveness and allowing himself to love Nate again - it's incredibly well done.

I love the scare chord that plays when Nate opens the door and sees Beard.

But this is a great couple of scenes, from Ted enjoying just the smallest amount of schadenfreude about Nate having to hide under the table for five hours to gently and indirectly reminding Beard that he was given a second chance and that everyone deserves one or no one does.

And Jade’s satisfaction in the next healing stage of Nate is that touch that completes the scene.

I didn’t love how quickly Nate’s arc resolved, but this scene made it all worth it.

never could have imagined a comedy show that is based on what was essentially a commercial or two comedy promoting of broadcasting the Premiere League on NBC with Jason Sudeikis playing then Ted Lasso in 2014, would then years later adapting into a hilarious, and heart warming series

Watching this again, it's so obvious that Ted is actually being VERY direct with Coach Beard here.

This is probably the best show from beginning to end that I've ever seen. They had a vision, they had a story, they told the story, and then they went away. They didn't dilute the product with filler episodes and unplanned stories just to add extra seasons.
