Just letting you know wet tail is a very common disease in hamsters caused by stress and is most common when you first get the hamsters. It is deadly and something you should have in mind if the hamster seems sick (and even if it doesn't) it is a good idea to get something called benaback, it is an antibiotic and works well for treating wet tail because it is deadly. Also please consider getting a bigger cage I used a large deep storage bin for my hamster and he loved it. Just make sure to cut out the lid and put mesh over it and very small holes in the sides for oxygen flow. please repost to spread awareness <3

Tips: get a bigger cage the cage is to small and add a lot of bedding and she will be very happy (also get a bigger wheel)

hey! experienced hamster owner here. just letting you know, that cage is way too small! the *minimum* for a hamster cage is 20x40 inches. your cage also has no enrichment or textures! some things you could use are seed sprays, grapevine branches, cork logs, different substrates, and wooden hides! the hamster also needs *at least* 6in of bedding, but the more the better. you also will need a sand bath. PLEASE stay away from small wire cages!! a good idea would be a bin cage, an aquarium, or a Niteangel brand cage. You are also going to need a bigger wheel, make sure you buy one that doesn’t make him arch his back, also do not get a saucer wheel. EVERYBODY CONSIDERING GETTING A HAMMIE, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH TO PREVENT MAKING MISTAKES LIKE THIS!!!

Hamsters need:

100x50cm of floor space MINIMUM (this is a law)
At least 6 inches of bedding (10+ is better)
Lots of enrichment
A large playpen
A healthy, balanced diet
At least an 8 inch wheel
A large sand bath (robos need bigger)
Substrates and forage (coco fibre is an affordable option
A nearby exotic vet
Lots or research!

Hope this helped! ❤

!WARNING!
this is really important!

So. Hamsters is small animals, right?
So they dont need a big cage!
WRONG!
the cage is the hamsters whole world.
The hamster can't decide when to go in and out of the cage. Having that small cage can turn into barbiting and stress.
PLEASE GET A BIGGER CAGE!
also hamster names:squeaks, bobby, hammy or maybe summer?
I hope you listen❤

Ben, please get a bigger cage with more bedding! I recommend a glass cage with a top to it.

Make sure that the cage is a good cage and that it is big, make sure that they have multiple layers of bedding and maybe even some hay, make sure that you don’t just make it a flat terrain and make it have some hills, (one or two) and then at the beginning of scatter some food around, but before you scatter the food around, always pack it down a bit so that it is more sturdy and that they can tunnel! Hope that helps!🎉

I would definitely recommend upgrading their cage and switch to paper bedding also make sure to buy a deeper cage and put a lot a of bedding in the cage for more info on hamster care I recommend Victoria Raechel and DO NOT HOUSE HAMSTERS TOGETHER they can get into deadly fights!!

I love watching your content and I'm sure you had good intentions however the cage you currently have as well as the hamster's current set-up is unsuitable. Pls switch to a tank and research the hamsters care. Thank you and good luck with your new pet! :)

I recommend getting a much bigger enclosure, the good amount is 40 gallons or over!

I want to say this in a nice way I love watching your content but the cage you have is too small you will know this if it chews on the bars or clime and I recommend a 40 gallon tank with a couple inches of bedding so it can burrow and if you do that your hamster will appreciate it and I recommend watching Victoria Rachel for hamster advice your hamster won't live long if it's in that cage and the wheel seems too small you need a 12 inch wheel for a Syrian hamster

ADVICE:
I would recommend getting a bigger cage that is at least 450 sq inches of floor space (not including levels) and make sure the base is deep enough for at least 6-10 inches of bedding so your new friend can burrow, pls do research x❤

Also, and I mean this in the kindest way possible, your hamster is going to need a much bigger cage! Probably something that is a lot deeper so you can put a lot of bedding. Hamsters like to burrow and if they can’t have that they won’t be as happy or live as long.

Hamsters need a ton of room, a 40 gallon tank is good plus an approximately 11 inch wheel that is plastic. Not the wire ones. They run up to 9 kilometers per night and are foragers. It’s important to give them lots of stimulation in their home with various substrates. They love to burrow! Also a separate play pen where you can feed them fresh fruits and veggies and interact with them once a day. They are “easy” pets to take care of poorly but I would say they’re more medium difficulty if you want them to be happy and healthy!
