My mum said “it doesn’t need a big cage it’s so small!” So I’m saving up myself to get a hamster and make sure it has the life it deserves

I work at Petsmart, I always encourage parents to do their research. I've had plenty of people get angry at me and say "nevermind" to getting a hamster because I tell them the actual size enclosure and things they need. I'm going to copy this link and give them to people who are buying a hamster and encourage them to watch this video!

People say that having a hamster is cheap, but with the right care, it can cost more then expected 😅 great video!

You're one of the best pet youtubers I have found. Most of them just make stressful and dangerous hamster mazes.
Edit: thanks for nearly 300 likes!

My dad is complaining that he doesn't want to buy my hamster a new cage because he's showing stress behaviours. I am now making an entire slideshow on hamster care with my only source being this YouTube channel. These videos inspire me to speak up to my dad to convince him to buy a new cage.

I got a Campbells dwarf at Christmas named Pip. I went from a 372-square-inch cage to a completely natural Ikea detolf and it is because of you and your videos! Both Pip and I say thank

My mum showed me one of those tinytales homes, I immediately showed her one of these videos and she understood that even if gerbils are small, that doesn’t mean that they have to have a small cage.

Thank you so much for these videos! We adopted a girl hamster and she seems to be thriving! The $180 (biggest option hamster enclosure we almost bought at the pet store was absolutely inadequate. So we built ours and our baby girl loves to burrow! We joke she is always "renovating"

It's so nice to see hamster recommendations/minimums are going up. I've been in the hamster community for over a year and I started out with watching videos that said it was recommended to have 450 square inches of floor space (the minimum). Now I'm seeing a lot more people on Reddit, YouTube, and other social medias that are going by German hamster standards, which are much better. I've also seen a lot of people are recommending the larger minimums and I've seen so many better cages than before. It's only been a year and the community has improved so much. I'm on Reddit frequently because I am the main moderator in r/hamsters, so I regulary see people improving their care. It's really nice to see one of my favorite YouTubers making such a wonderful video. Thank you so much Victoria ❤️

This matches our rescue standards so much - I can't wait to share this with some of our adopters who are more visual learners :)

Miss Victoria, I must thank you oh so much for your dedication to informing people about how hamsters should be kept. I recently purchased a syrian hamster, and I did exactly what first time hamster owners do. Her cage was only a 20 gallon aquarium that was 24in L. x 15.5in W. x 16in H, a 9in. wheel, generic food with a ton of sunflower seeds and corn, no sand bath, 3 in. of bedding, and just a few chews. Once I saw all your videos, I was so disappointed in myself.

Now my baby has a 30in L. x 24in W. x 24in H. inclosure with a glass viewing side, and a chicken wire lid. A 12in wheel (safe plastic wheel, no ridges inside and is not a wire/mesh wheel) a sand bath, 4 hides, a balanced diet of proteins and seeds with very few sunflower seeds and corn, 10 in. of bedding (paper based, botanical hay, & aspen bedding), and a crap ton of safe chews.

Thank you oh so much for giving me the info I needed to give my little girl the best life.

I love how you talk about hamster specific things to buy but also other cheaper options for things like hideouts and food dishes.

Girl how hard you worked and researched and studied for these animals to be at your 👌 👏.
I feel so proud when I see a women like you.
Keep going, I have a Chinese dwarf 🐹 and I learned so much from just watching your videos and am working on myself to provide a better life for her everyday.

Its great to see somebody actually educated on what they are telling people, especially younger kids with hamsters. I've been watching your YT videos since 2020, and because of u and some help from my dad, I was able to go from a 10 gallon aquarium tank to a 612 sq ft DIY acrylic-wooden cage. And since then, I have been able to give 2 different hamsters a great life, full of enrichment, and tips and tricks from YOU!! So this is just a thank you, and please continue making these videos!

And btw... I'm SO glad I found your channel before buying a hamster! I would never have known of their love for burrowing if I hadn't seen your videos and I just don't see these recommendations elsewhere. After watching your videos I am exited about bringing a hamster home but also chocked about the cages out there! Like they climb more than they dig! It's crazy!

The first hamster I got was named fluffy and she was living in a small cage with tiny tubes and barely any enrichment. She also came from the pet store and get this, she had NO TEETH. So we didn’t have to worry about her teeth and she couldn’t chew her toys. I even took out any big foods from her seed mix and left the little ones. She had no sand bath, a 6 inch wheel, one hideout, and one day I found her in a DOME of bedding that she created because she barely had any room to burrow😭
My second hamster, (current), has a 150 qt bin cage with a sand bath, 12 inch silent runner, multiple hideouts, 11 inches of bedding on more than half of her enclosure, a variety of chews, water dish, veggie dish, gets an hour of free roam time in the bathtub, and she is scatter fed. I never would have come this far if it wasn’t for you Victoria. I am still upgrading and learning and I hope we can learn about hamsters together and we fix all of our mistakes do our hamsters have the best lives possible. I actually uploaded a hamster video on my channel if you wanna check it out. I am aware of the lid, I will change that don’t worry. I am taking any suggestions so make sure you read the desc as well. I can’t wait for your next video!
