when i saw him, i almost started crying. not because he wasn’t treated right but because he looked EXACTLY like my last dwarf hamster, misty. she had been rescued and also had a bar patch, the thing that reminded me of her most was the dark grey stripe down his back ❤

no matter how sad his situation was before, props to the mom for caring enough for him to rehome him!
there are more than enough ppl that get hamsters and the moment the pet becomes unwanted, they simply refuse to take care of it untill it miserably dies.

deffo not defending them for housing an animal in inproper ways, i am the first person to get angry at improper animal husbandry, but she did the right thing.
In this day and age, the amount of people getting pets they arent equipped to take care of, will not slow down. and we cant just always beat on the people for rehoming their animals which in a lot of cases is doing whats right by the animal.
especially in a case like this where the animal was provably loved to some extend. just... not in the proper ways

We are getting an hamster this weekend. I mistakenly got a wire cage, but it is only temporary. I have an old 20 gallon (I think I know it is pretty big) aquarium that is just sitting doing nothing. When the clerk told me that is preferred I realized the cage could just be used until I can the aquarium cleaned and set up so the little thing can have a fun and enriching enclosure. I appreciate your videos. I have learned a lot. I am hoping to have the aquarium ready before it gets here so we don't have to worry about the cage at all. I never knew about the sand bath. thanks so much. My daughter is excited and when I saw we could DIY some of the burrows, etc out of cardboard she got even more excited when she realized we could make them together. thanks so much. so informative.

I've had a winter white dwarf (couldn't keep her, became my cousins') and two years ago got a campbell who lived happily with me thanks to your brilliant channel. Knowing this wee baby has the best time ahead of it!!

i’m so glad you were able to find and rescue this little guy! i have a huge soft spot for dwarf hamsters. i only have one right now, but at one point i had 16 due to an accidental litter. me and my brother bought two dwarf females from a VERY sketchy pet shop. both girls gave birth about a week after we got them. if it wasn’t for your channel and your knowledge, i’m not what i would have done. i built 14 bin cages for all the babies (once they were old enough to be on their own) and made sure they all had good bedding depth and a large wire free wheel. i’m very lucky to have parents that were willing to make a huge financial sacrifice so that all the baby hamsters (and their mothers) could go to good homes and be well taken care of. i made little care pamphlets and guides so that their future owners would be educated about the right kind of hamster care. i watched probably 100 of your videos getting information and learning about hamsters. i was also inspired by you to do my own research as well. all the babies were successfully adopted and i prayed that their owners would be safe and loving. both mothers have passed away now, but i still have one of their babies. i named him pipkin and he is more then 2 yrs old! he is very healthy and i think still has a lot of life ahead of him. someday i would love to rescue more hamsters, but for now now i’m really trying to focus on giving pip the best life. thank you so much for being a voice for hamsters and a patient educator for their owners. god bless 🤍🐹
