Since 2016, My IT shop has had 15 PCs running Mint Xfce and Cinnamon. In March this year, we tested LMde5 for 2 months and went full-out LMde5 on all 15 PCs 2 months later in May.
2 Months later(now), not regretting that decision.
We have never, I repeat, NEVER had such a smooth, flawless and clean OS environment as LMde5.
2 thumbs way up for this debian-based distro! Definitely an easy donation to make🙂

Thanks for the video. I've been using Linux for about 9 months and mint is everything you need that just works. It's rock solid and stable

As my first distro, it has a special place in my heart and I still get excited whenever a new version comes out to play with. Secretly I want to see if it can win me back...

Thanks for reviewing this. Helps us know what has changed in this new version of Mint. Helps that you overview it quick, because most of us wont' have time to take it for a spin.

The improvements in the thumbnails might be the reason I bump up a little quicker than usual too, it looked significantly better on your video. I'm also a little curious to see how the new GUI upgrade tool works out.

I've said it before the sooner the Mint team makes LMDE their main focus with a faster updating kernel for more easier hardware support like Wifi/Bluetooth/GPU's the better, and the sooner I give them another try on my spare laptop.

I'm glad to see the thumbnail issue fixed(?)... Arch & EndeavourOS is having that issue on Cinnamon still with the pictures, png, jpg, gif, some work and some don't. It is hit or miss and a pain to find a pic... I sure all my Mint boxes are 20.3, not sure about the Cinnamon version on all of the m but the Media server is on 5.2.7. being that there sight says that 5.4.4 is current... Lol

Awesome video and they do get watched Tom... :-)

It’s cool but I don’t have to worry about it I’m using LMDE. Thanks to this channel, I decided that I should get away from Ubuntu based distros but because I like Linux mint that’s why I made the choice.

5:22 to 5:30 I couldn't agree more.

I always pick Traditional and then change the icons of the panel items I put on them to what I want (windows 7 for many of them 😁)

Great to hear about the thumbnail issue being solved. But what about GIMP xcf thumbnails?

After about 10 years of following Ubuntu, Mint and a hand full of other distro's i finally updated my PC and decided to run with Zorin last week. I loved Mint, but I wanted an OS that would do the thinking for me.

Had a weird problem where Casper kept trying to update, but once I got rid of it, everything has been buttery smooth.

I'm running it. Just an annoyance that fractional scaling and some Qt apps don't play nice. The fractional scaling is deemed, "experimetal, " so no surprises or expectations in that regard. Mint has been my choice of Linux for a long time. Have hopped a lot but just run vm's now when I want to check the "latest and greatest."

X-APPS is what made me switch to UBUNTU. I have been an avid Linux Mint MATE user for many years.
With Pluma being replaced by X-reader I hated it. The same goes for the PDF reader... So I replaced both apps with the native MATE ones from the repos... buy they are outdated... I finally went with Ubuntu 22.04 which keeps an UNIFORM Look & Feel.
I had to adapt to GNOME but I prefer that adaptation to having to use "out of place" apps in MATE.

l hope mint has fixed the spices apps that stopped working in 20, eg for me it was, mail nag and alarm clock, also sound converter stopped converting from mp4 to mp3, but mp4 to wav and wav to mp3 works. there does no seem to be any new features that appeal to me, just fix the things that stopped working

Gmusicbrowser doesn't work in Mint 21. Dependecy problems, whatever that means.
The flatpack version doesn't work for me, it doesn't show the externel hd .

I love Mint+Cinnamon. Sadly with a recent change of PC to a HP Prodesk 405 G6 the live USB version is not activating or detecting the Realtek 802.3 network adaptor. I have no clue why as it is surely a common bit of hardware.
