As a salon professional I agree and disagree with you on the use of baking soda on your hair.  Yes, baking soda when used every day on your hair will cause issue because of the alkalinity as well as roughing up and damage the hair by lifting the cuticle.  That being said, baking soda IS a good way to remove buildup on hair and IS recommended as a natural way to clarify hair.  But it should only be used once or twice a month to remove product build up, excess oil and environmental gunk that accumulates.  The reason that you're hair was in such bad shape from the baking soda was because you over used it.  Using it on your hair every day, or even every shampoo, it the equivalent of using a very abrasive exfoliating scrub on your face every day.  It will hurt like hell and remove healthy skin too!

So for all you out there who are using or want to use baking soda to clarify your hair, go for it.  It's NOT going to damage your hair if you use it properly.

Can I add aloe Vera from the plant instead of the jail

You need distilled water. I didnt hear you mention this. Also I would NOT use Aloe Gel that's targeted for sunburn. That's not pure aloe. It has a bunch of additives that can be bad for your hair. I would buy 100% pure aloe. Also just buy a bottle of vitamin E. Much easier & cost effective.

I'd really like to see an update for this. I'm thinking of making this without the water because I just have a smaller bottle 🤷also I have no vit e handy so what's the shelf live of this shampoo, and can I replace my regular shampoo with this? I usually wash my hair like every three - four days. Tried bs and avc got a rash and found acv made my hair super oily so I'm skipping conditioner all together

You really need to use distilled water whenever making products, not tap water. It could cause mold & bacteria to grow. Plus it will be more ph balanced. Also the aloe vera targeted for sunburn is not pure aloe. It has additives that can be bad for your hair. You want 100% pure aloe. You can find it on Amazon.
Also you can buy a bottle of vitamin E that's easier & cost effective.
And be sure to have clean sterile utensils & containers for storage.

Is there something else that could be used in place of the glycerin?  I have allergies to coconut and palm and the glycerin is probably made from them.

Try using Distilled water from your local grocery instead of your hard water. Could do the trick. Thank you for the info!

Awesome!! Thank you so much for sharing. I've recently been attacked with stomach/digestion issues & it seems to all be coming back to the intake of chemicals & stuff in our foods. In saying that I have been using all natural alternatives, but can't seem to find a good shampoo. I have faith in this one & hope that it works for me! I was wondering though, how long will this recipe keep its shelf life? So when would it expire? Thank you so much for your time,
Bekah

Great video! Baking Soda doesn't HAVE to ruin your hair though- it can be a crucial part of the detox period for people on the No Poo journey as it clarifies. I reckon after a few weeks people should move on from BS to more nourishing things. I just did an incredible rye flour shampoo - amaaaazing :D Your hair looks gorgeous  x x

These are all good tips. I would add that much use of Baking Soda is the issue. AND....everyone who cares about pH should invest in pH strips...figure out a recipe/ratio of ingredients to get the desired pH that is close to hair's.

Nice recipe. Can I replace coconut cream for water as the liquid base of the soap?

interestingly I have been using BS n ACV rinse for a while now n have embarrassingly noticed dandruff and dry hair halfway down the length with breakage from just gentle finger brushing during the day.
