Dane here. Yes, Denmark is expensive, but we typically get paid more in return. For example a Danish McDonalds employee gets paid more than 3x than they do in the US (on average). As a Dane, you typically don't notice the high prices - I think it has a bigger impact on tourism, since it makes Denmark an expensive destination

Im from Denmark and it's not expensive here. It's expensive for people from other countries to visit because we get high vagues (our minimum wage is fluid, right now its 122.5 DKK an hour or 16, 44 euro an hour or 19, 02 dollars an hour. also we have 35 hours work weeks.) This has also something to do with that we eat homemade meals most days with our families and only eat out at speciel occasions (also the employer pay our waiters which means the customers dont pay the waiters wages.) If you know how to navigate in danish culture it's not expensive. Also in Denmark we have a system called flexicurity, which basically means the employer can fire workers almost instantly but we have a system called "dagpenge" which provides almost the same salary for two years so you have time to get a new job without stressing out. One last thing, if you are a low income household in Denmark you pay about 38% in income taxes. Denmark is one of the best places to live in the whole world.

Considering that a huge part of England was literally a part of Denmark once, I am amazed how many English people barely even know anything about it.

Will anyone else tell them that the scenery they're fawning over is on the Faroe Islands and Greenland?

One of the best things about living in Denmark, is that where ever you go for a vacation, it's dirt cheap :D

I mean yeah stuff is expensive here, not as much as in Norway for instance (I mean 70kr, - is insane even for us Danes) but the tradeoff isn't exactly bad or anything. I mean taxes are high and stuff is expensive but that tax goes quite a long way with how it provides free healthcare, free education all the way up through university as well, free eldercare (though that sector is now a joke thanks to budget cuts by right wing politicians), a social security net where you get paid by the government if you lose your job until you can get a new one and much more! Though it definitely creates some funky annomalies, I mean McDonald's workers make more than some office workers, and a McDonald's job in the long run even counts as a degree in the service sector, which you can use when applying to other jobs in the field. The system isn't perfect but I would never trade it for anything like the American way for instance.

You have to take into account the different currency, so while it might be expensive in let's say US Dollars, it's not that expensive in Danish Crowns. But the taxes are pretty high, but that's because it goes into paying for things like education, and healthcare, among other things meaning it's essentially free and accessable to everyone.

Hi guys.
Thank you so much for another great video, I just love your enthusiasm in everything.

just remember that the Faroe Island are not even close to Denmark and you won’t find any kind of nature like mountains or waterfalls in mainland Denmark.
And yes compared to the UK Denmark is very expensive. You can buy a meal in England for 1 pound ( I know I’ve done that quite a few times ) while I lived in the UK and you won’t be able to buy even a cup of coffee for 1 pound in Denmark.
Even in summertime Denmark it’s colder than at least in London because of the wind. I used to freeze when I visited my family so I had to walk around with a jacket on.
About the high taxes it’s because schools are free, nursery’s are almost free. Our nursery staff will need a university degree to work in a nursery and you do not have that in the uk. Pretty much anyone can be a nursery assistant or a early year educator quite easily. Besides that you get paid around 450 GBP a month when you go to the university and all college and university are free in Denmark.
We get 46 weeks paid maternity leave and if you can not get surgery or something else within 3 month you can choose any private hospital for free to get your surgery done.
There’s so much more when it comes to our taxes but in general if you have a quite good salary in the UK it’s cheaper to live there than it is in Denmark. But the financial security are much better in Denmark if you loose your job or get sick. That’s why we moved back to Denmark because I got sick otherwise we would have stayed I the UK as we LOVED living in your beautiful country.

Guys you really need to pause if you wanna comment something, because if you talk over, nobody can't understand you or the video, it's just gibberish.

on wages. it is expensive for other countries to travel to norway (or other countries in the nordics), but not for us, as our wages are generally higher than other countries of similar "position". hopefully this explains why it may "look" expensive.

Working as a pedagog i used to get around 26-28.000 before taxes. My tax % i had to pay was around 40% and 8% in labor market contributions.

Therefore 48%. But i can some deduction from my taxes so about 10.000 of my salary i wouldn pay taxes from. The rest i would pay 48% of. I had a 58km travel to work wich i could put in my tax returns and then get more money without taxasion.

Noma is famous as one of the first places to start the wave of New Nordic Cuisine, where Nordic local ingredients are used and reinvented for a more modern take. Noma takes it a step further, because they're a Michelin restaurant and they have a reputation, so, yeah, moss and ants have not been used in any way in traditional Danish cooking. We're more of a pork and gravy sort of nation in that regard.

Swedish and Norwegian are much easier to learn than Danish. Norwegian is probably the most easiest for English speakers to learn. It's possible to learn, it's not like Chinese, Russian and Arabic. At the end of the day, all these languages (Afrikaans, Danish, Dutch, English, German, Frisian, Icelandic, Norwegian and Swedish) are all germanic languages. 😄
