Strategy, strategy, strategy. During my 40+ years in the corporate structure I was taught to never give anything away for free, as the customer will not see value in something that is free. Your approach, and my takeaway, is to be strategic in your approach!

🎉 great video. As a social entrepreneur I’ve been guilty of focusing too much on the social and not enough on the entrepreneur (revenue).

I’m turning that ship around. Slowly.

With fiction I create a prequel short story introducing the characters and some backstory. This makes the perfect frebbie and doesn't clog up my actual series or novel having to fill in the backstory throuhout the novel. Also, adding a free book to KU allows those click reads. I listen to audiobooks daily while doing household chores, walking the dog etc. Listening to free books in a series is how I constantly find new authors. I consider a free book an easier form of marketing and better for my wallet compared to thousands of dollars for advertisments.

Love this video, Julie! I HAVE been giving my books away for free ... and strategically. It's definitely a long game strategy, but I find I'm more of a tortoise than a hare when it comes to book marketing, so it fits! 🙂

I really like the various strategies, particularly giving the audio version away. Has BL authors used the software Higher Level for building funnels? Or do you recommend another program? Should you start giving away an audio books during your launch? Thanks.

I did a free book promo on Amazon and got 1, 029 hits. But did I get heaps of reviews! No. None. Not one review. I gave away all those books for nothing. Will never do that again.

Okay, Julie, I love the value your content provides, but I have to mention how distracting your t-shirt is. Yes, it is cute, but the huge white spot in the middle of your chest is the visual focus point of your video. I literally started the video three times trying to pay attention to what you were saying. Finally, I turned my phone over and emptied the dishwasher while listening in order to get through it.
