James Blunts father, in the video, was diagnosed with stage four chronic kidney disease. With no donor in sight and time running out, Blunt recorded this song as a way of saying goodbye to his father and tell him how he felt about him. After the video released a distant cousin matched as a donor and Blunts father has now recovered and is in good health....Awesome reaction, as always :)

I lost my father in 2018, it was my foundation, until today at various times I don't know how to deal, our "farewell" was with him saying at the Hospital that he was a little better, probably to stop calming me down.

Thank you so much for reacting to this song. Here in Canada during the covid lockdown my father has been living in a extended Care facility which was also in lock down when he passed away. His health was continuously fading and I was not allowed in to see him for months. With the time of his passing drawing near and with him no longer being able to verbally communicate I had to say my goodbyes to him over a video call. During the call I played this song for him and I could see the tears starting to roll down his face. At that moment I knew he could still hear, and understand everything that was being said to him. And just how much I loved him and was proud to be his son. It was the hardest time I have ever faced in my life because I just wanted to be there to hold his hand before his time came. This song will forever remind me of that moment.

My father in the early stages of Alzheimer’s often told me how scared he was knowing that he was losing his memory. He passed away a year ago and the song sums up my goodbye to him. We no longer were father and Son as he didn’t recognize me anymore but I Loved him more then ever! RIP Dad!
