My dad died in my arms of a massive heart attack the day after my mom died. He couldn't live without her. That was back in 2001 and it marked me. I know I'll see them in heaven one day, but I still miss them so much. I can't watch this video without a lot of tears. It's beautiful.

The reassurance from a father to a son by simply putting his hand on your arm…..the little rub at the end to soothe his emotions……unbelievable 🥲

James wanted this to be 100% real and authentic. This was the first time he'd sung it to his dad, who had only recently been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease and was not expected to survive, although they did eventually find a donor and he made it. Both James and his dad are former officers in the British military. First time I heard this was 3 days after my Dad passed away and it broke me I lost my Dad 5 years ago this August after he fell and hit his head sadly he didn't survive it caused a bleed on his brain I sadly never had the chance to tell him I loved him and that hurts but i know he is at peace now.

My father died two weeks after an airline mistake allowed me to stop overnight to see him at the nursing home; he needed 24 hour care. The last words my father spoke to me were, "I've always loved you". I could not be there for him when he needed me but somehow this song makes me feel better for he and I talked like two men for hours that day; I was so very lucky in that it was one of his good days. Thank you for this so very much.

The weird thing is younger folks will see this from James perspective but as an older man I see it from the father’s vantage and it’s just as sad. Great reaction young lady…God bless you

I heard James donated all the proceeds from this video to the UK charity 'Help For Heroes' who do so much wonderful work with and for ex-servicemen and women. As a former officer in the British military, I think that was a lovely thing to do. ❤ 🙋‍♂ I loved your reaction to this amazing video, so thanks.

Oh my days. I'm just a 53 year old bloke and this song touched my heart.
My dad was absent for all my life, but I am bringing up my daughter with the care and love I would have liked for my young self.
If my girls love me as much as James clearly loves his dad, I will have had the most wonderful life. ❤

My father died 5 weeks ago after battling cancer, he was just too old, too weak but if it had come at him 30 or 40 years ago he would have put up such a fight.
My sister suggested I should listen to this song, how haunting it is.
R.I.P dad 💔

Not normally a fan of James Blunt or reaction videos, but his video is so bare, genuine and stripped down the sentiment will be aknowledged by many a son and daughter. I thought your reaction was indeed handled with the same respect and openness. Thank you for refreshing and honest reaction, keep up the good work

I served with James's father in Germany in the 70's, he was a Honourable man and his son followed in his footsteps. I'm am sorry for his loss. This was a good tribute to him.

Great reaction. ❤No one can pull emotions like James. If this doesn't hit you, you're not a complete human.❣

James Blunt is a much derided singer here in the UK following on from his first smash hit "You're Beautiful", he has largely risen above this by displaying a wonderful, self mocking, sense of humour and, yes, being a damned fine song writer and performer. Both James and his father were serving officers in the British military, so it must have taken a high degree of courage to put such raw emotion on display in this video, especially coming from such a macho environment as the army. Another highly charged official video is "No Bravery", especially so with the horrors going on in the Middle East currently. This video is a record of his experience as an officer deployed in the Balkan War, some years ago now, it really is a devastating watch and you can almost see in James' eyes that he's re-living some of the atrocities he must have witnessed in that bloody conflict. How the hell he gets through the song without breaking down, I'll never know but, whatever, it's a Must Watch.

Not sure you've been prettier, more genuine or more beautiful than when you cried in this video. I've seen it many times but watching with you - the dam burst once again. Thanks for your real feelings on this one - it's tough but beautiful.

Lost my dad when I was 17, I’m 47 now. He’d been I’ll, but sort of recovering. Kissed him on the forehead as I headed out for school, got the usually grunt as it was early . That was the last time I saw him alive, came home to an empty house. First time I’ve seen this, and has brought tears to my eyes. If you haven’t said it for while, say it now. You never know when………..

Your pause and silence said enough. I unfortunately lived this song with my dad that passed in 2014. I literally had that conversation with him at the end. So glad I did. Love you and miss you dad!!!
