We take apart an F5 Vipron Blade to see if there are any parts we can use! Could it be a linux firewall?

The SATA port placement has to be the strangest I have ever seen makes me feel like it is actually not SATA due to it being so close to the VRM but just a guess and shot in the dark.

I seem to recall having experience with one of these, but the AMD opteron version. They had a CF card slot for storage, so I presume if you could get a console you could install an OS onto it. I don't think they have any VGA/GPU however.

"refresh"-ing content 😅

edit: This and the last video, pardon me if I'm wrong/inexperienced, but do these devices more or less operate as the PC controlling the specialized switching/routing board from a sort of software/human interface perspective; and the MIPS & ARM chips controlling all of the heavy lifting of the actual switching/routing/etc as they have better speed for such duties?

Almost like specialized ASIC's were used for years ago? Again, pardon me if I'm a bit out of date, have not worked in IT since a short stint many years ago.

Time is precious, and there is always an opportunity cost.

Why struggle to reuse old parts when new parts are affordable and will work perfectly, and quickly?
