My Mormon in-laws love to say, "It's sacred, not secret." My take on that is if you can't tell anyone about it, it's a secret no matter how sacred it is. The Bible warns us not to join secret societies or religions where rituals are performed in secret.

Anytime a religion requires secrecy... Run!!!😮

LDS wonder why Biblical Christians don't accept them as simply being involved in another Christian denomination, like Methodists, etc.
If temple practices include any kind of "self imposed curses" that are also practiced within masonic lodges, the doctrine is questionable at best.

True Churches don’t keep levels of secrets from their members only cults do that

GOD would never keep anything secret. But the devil would.

For me, my father's inability to share what happens in the temple was my first questioning of the church. I was a young girl & it felt wrong.

Went to a wedding reception after a temple wedding
The groom came out and looked like he had seen a Ghost!
I am not LDS but I’m familiar with some of the creepy practices.
So sad
He has since walked away from that church 💕

Years ago my father tried to join a certain organisation that was reputed for doing good community service. Well and fine. However, he was expected to do bizarre initiation rituals and was sworn to secrecy as well. He got spooked and booked it out of there, saying he never signed up for any of that psycho rubbish. Yet he was so traumatised by the hazing that it took him many years to tell anyone what he went through with that cult

I only kept the secret because even I found it ridiculous at the time. I didn’t want people to make fun of me.

I went through the temple in 1982. I came out disillusioned. That was the beginning of the end.

My sister came out doubting her faith 100%. That was her end. 😂

My bf of 3.5 years is a returned missionary and he said every time he was in the temple for anything he was internally screaming because it scared him how much he felt like it was a cult and that was during a time when he felt his faith was strongest

The deliberately hidden early massacres by the Mormon Church is quite telling as is the polygamous preying on young women, often just girls. There is definitely something seriously wrong with this organization. The Lafferty murders alone should have called many of the tenets into ridicule at best whereas sincere reflection and adaptation are called for in this case.

You CAN totally reveal that you're wearing temple clothes in the temple. It's not secret.

It's really funny to me how much superstition and misunderstanding about their own doctrine there is in the church. Even while I was in it I recognized that while some people wouldn't talk about things like the temple ceremonial clothing, it's not because they're not allowed to, but because it's all intentionally kept shrouded in mystery. You only covenant to not share specific things about the ceremony; everything else is fair game but was supposed to be treated with reverence. I definitely talked more openly about what goes on in there and the clothing than most people, while also trying to maintain some respect. Interestingly, even after leaving the church, I still don't really want to talk about the temple ceremony much. The programming is real folks.

I'm a huge blabber mouth, i would have told everyone everything immediately if they asked... Are there people who do that? I never took anything in church that literally... I was the kid that wanted a refill of my blood of Christ (thimble of grape juice)
