Not only Whatsapp and Instagram, I don't even use them. But honestly, most of my time is wasted on unnecessary Youtube videos and sometimes the newly introduced video format called shorts. So I am trying hard to watch only those videos that are useful for me.

So true! Before the smartphone era I was a devoted reader. Now I seldom read, I just cannot concentrate without pictures for long hours anymore.

I can bet in 5 years there will be videos on how the algorithm destroyed countless careers and family lives.

This is exactly what happened to me after JEE preparation. When I was in school, going for coaching classes, I spent 10-13 hours a day studying even on weekends. After I got into university, I became incapable of working for more than 5-6 hours a day. And even in that time, I couldn't stop myself from using the phone every few minutes. This became worse when the pandemic first hit. Now it is slowly getting better, I think. Thanks, in part, to videos like this.

I felt something similar. at first it's difficult to focus, you feel restless but after 10-15 days you feel normal. I tried it and I'm off social media since last 3 years. try it, you'll see the difference

I lost my 4 years on youtube .
I loved maths and used to study whole day . I wanted to be mathematician .
Now i have lost complete interest in Maths.
I am currently in my final year of engineering .
Phone killed my capability, focus everything .

When Bill Gates first met Warren Buffett, their host at dinner, Gates’ father, asked everyone around the table to identify what they believed was the single most important factor in their success through life. Gates and Buffett without any co-ordination within themselves gave the same one-word answer: “Focus.”

This is such an eye-opener. I guess I have already suffered the consequences but watching this made me feel that the confidence I lost isn't because I'm less of a person now rather I have fallen into this vicious cycle. And so I'd come out of it and shine again like I did years ago. I will get my life back on track. Thank you for this!

Beautiful and convincing explanation sir... once I realised this when I was in college, I uninstalled Facebook and instagram. Now it’s 5 years. I’m sure that I have a better quality life now.

3 weeks of social media detox and then youtube recommends me this....really inspiring me....once you quit social media... you'll feel much much better....

I deleted Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter....which were the cause of most distractions....even more distracting than those is viewing WHATSAPP STORIES. Stop doing that now....I too haven't deleted whatsapp coz...I need it sometimes...for official works...but I have muted everyone's stories...That helps a lot in reducing stress and making your mind free from small but unnecessary tensions....and small changes can lead to a big change.

Your efforts to save us from the sweet poison ( uncontrolled use of smartphone) are clearly transparent.
Thanx Rajan Sir 🙏

I was practicing some complex SQL queries then I took my phone and opened youtube after 50 mins of random videos I landed on this video... And realized I'm doing what you are explaining not to do, (I realized that I'm distracted) I'm leaving this video, 1.5 mins of video is enough for me... So Bye-Bye I have to complete my target.
Thank you, sir 👍💯

I am struggling with this for almost an year now. My attention span is reduced a lot. I m not learning anything new, it's dragging my confidence low. I am forgetting things because that spac is taken by political news.
And I had figured it out, that it was about the phone. Thanks for explaining it so well.
