How to mute doorbell without disconnecting power

We have had our doorbell disconnected for years as it makes our dogs go crazy! We recently installed a ring doorbell that does not have the option of turning off the indoor chime. The ring requires there be power to it unless you want to constantly be charging the thing. Here is how to mute your doorbell while still having power to your ring.

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!! Just did it in 2 seconds. Got so tired of my downstairs neighbor and other people ringing it throughout the day to let them in.

I already didn't like it when Amazon or other delivery drivers rang the doorbell, but last night some neighbor kids decided to ding-dong ditch my home and this was the answer. Thanks!

Dude, best damn solution on the entire interwebs! So many people talking about screwing with wiring, buying transformers, jumpers, you name it. This was genius!! Yet so darn simple!

THIS IS A GOD SEND !!!! I was losing my mind at my rental house . People would not respect obvious signs I had. Felt so powerless as someone who get seriously sensitive and aggravated by this type of annoying sounds ! I had the exact door bell, NO YOU WILL NOT GET SHOCKED ! It’s really as simple as it’s shown and my god ! I could kiss you for saving me wasteful months of the rage I got hearing the door bell again despite multiple signs ! Thank you 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Thanks for this short, concise explanation!! We had two pieces inside ours, removed them both. So we don't lose them, I'll tape them to the " wall box" so I can replace them if we go to sell at some point. Thanks again!! Doorbell makes our dog a maniac too, plus one of the cats goes running, then the dog chases it (because of the dog's breed - small, running animals get chased. Normally they get along well).

TYSM for confirming that simply removing the metal plate silences the doorbell 🥰

Cool vid, should have done this ages ago. Even with a no soliciting sign in plain view there's always some jack hole that ignores it.

Thanks a million. Living right on the road, people kept coming over and disturbing my flow every now and then...all kinds of miscellaneous would greatly disturb my flow at work or even worse, my sleep if I had just gotten back from a weekend of travelling and slept in on a monday. Thanks again.

Thank you. My 87 year old neighbor treats my doorbell like a butlers bell to summon me at any time of the day or night. He's quite rude but he has memory loss so I excuse him and even though I have pleaded with him not to do this incessant ringing he forgets that we have argued about this. Much better this way. He'll be none the wiser.
