Great video Jenny. I love all the editing, your skills are so good. I know it's one of your special interest which really helps but you have a natural flair for your editing. 👌

I have used the same two forks and spoons for over twenty years because I like the look and feel of them.

Jenny!! You really nailed it; this provides a great summary to non-autistic people of what we autistic people face daily. I resonate most strongly with the sensory issues; it doesn't take much for me to get sensory overload, and I struggle to filter out noises, visual stimuli, and activity from the things I actually do want to focus on if it's all going on at the same time. My main special interest is music, and I could talk to no end about it. And with burnout at jobs, I would usually go an average of 3 years before moving to another job. p.s. Great vocal SFX toward the beginning! And I agree that it's nice when we can educate AI lol. Dear AI, I don't believe that any autistic adult believes that actual cats and dogs are coming down from the sky. Have a great afternoon down there in 'Bama!

Everything was bang on, in this video! I will use it to show others. It is excellent because you gave personal examples.
I really had a laugh about the forks just this morning, I showed my husband, half a dozen forks, that I, put in a separate place, and clearly instructed him not to use them! Those are my forks... don't use them😅❤🙏

I enjoyed your story of leaving your job. I've had trouble with jobs in my past because I didn't know that I was very different. Once, I got out of bed and got ready for work and couldn't force myself to leave the house. So, I called them and quit. They were awful people, and I was expected to support an incompetent supervisor without extra pay or acknowledgement.

I check all the boxes! Since I became aware that I am most likely autistic a year ago, the 'traits' are becoming a lot more obvious to me. I think it's because I'm not masking as much and saying flat out I'm upset. Had to deal with a pet peeve just today: trying to deal with someone on the phone who can't speak English clearly! I hate having to make phone calls anyway and this just increases the stress level.

I can relate to all!

For special interests... When I think back before my diagnosis, most of my life, I realize now, I had intense special interests all those years. Some were TV shows where I would by all the dvds, then dive in a get to know the characters, actors, all about the show. Other times, it was certain topics or crafts. It would go on for years.

With hypersensitivity, I struggle with bright lights, sunshine. Always had to wear sunglasses even if it's only slightly sunny.

And definitely a routine follower. It's just less stressful. And when my routine is messed with, I feel lost.

Great video!

Yep! Yep! Yep! Yep! and Yep!

My special interests: God, artistic writing/journaling, listening deeply to others, my bunny, and of course my prince David

Routines and control, these are so important for me!

Always so good to be with you Jenny! 🧡💛🧡 Thank you!

Routine is a huge thing for me. If music therapy is unexpected canceled for me, I have a hard time processing that. Or being that I’m sick with a chest cold, that’s throwing off my routine, and that’s hard. I also have sensory issues. Mainly loud noises, certain textures, or someone being in my physical space without my knowing. Being that I’m completely blind and autistic, if someone were to randomly come up and grab me, it would set me off. My special interest is music. I could sit and talk about music and its benefits all day. I also have a special interest for sensory equipment and certain fidgets.

I struggle with being out in the daylight. I prefer night time. But I have many hobbies and fixations but my three biggest are gaming, Airsoft and art(I’m a graphic artist and programmer for my job). But Airsoft has definitely become one of my favorite hobbies.

You make this fun, Jenny! I love hearing all these things that I can easily relate to and from reading some of the comments from others so far this video was a hit with them also. Two things: I played through the part where you showed your favorite fork, The reason being that it looked very much like my fork. The design was slightly different on close observation but I'm sure It would feel the same or at least be very close. I have a teaspoon size spoon and a tablespoon size spoon with the same pattern as the fork. Those are the only ones I use except for a larger spoon for serving. Other spoons and forks just feel unusable. I also have my own cup and my own bowl. The other thing is that a long time ago I had a job that I had worked at for almost two years and there was some serious talk that I would probably be given a supervisor position. That would mean that I would have to talk with clients on the telephone. I was a mess not knowing what to do. At the end of work one day, I walked out the door without telling anyone that I wouldn't be coming back. Then I disappeared, never to return. What I think is interesting, looking back on that event, is when I got some feedback later on about the reaction to my disappearance, is that the people that I worked with at that job were not surprised about the way I left employment there. Thank you for your video. It was very well done and I really did enjoy it.

I like how you are not cutesy about it. You are straightforward and descriptive. It’s so hard for me to accept that I am “awkward”. I feel socially impaired. I work around people who are naturally charming, charismatic and confident and it’s hard not to compare myself. Especially when you have to be emotionally performative for work, and it just comes so naturally to some people. I have been at this job for years and although I feel more comfortable than i used to and less stressed at work, it never gets to a point where the discomfort is completely gone and I can just connect to people.

Hi Jenny. Recently self diagnosed AuADHD - agreed by my psychologist- and you just described me. 😅 From the cutlery sensitivity to the resting cranky face to the burnout, and beyond!. Thanks for validating that I'm not crazy!

Wow! Great Job! The sensory things are huge. I always question conversations and small talk/ indiirect things/ and just friendly chat iis something I think on and worry about sometimes for days after wondering what they meant. I am so over sensitive to plastic crinkling. I JUST CANT. And I have a teen and 8 year old, so that goes really well. Ugh. Socks! I am almost always seeking socks that work ok. Lights are often annoying. I literally hear high pitched mechanical sounds sometimes that irk me. I generally hate to admit one of my main speciial interests. It seems childish. But I thiink I love the Sims because I have complets and total control. I determine evertthing and it can go how I want. Ultimate cosmic power. ;P
