The F-16 is out rated by the Hornet and 2 other aircraft, it is very comparable to 4 other aircraft in 2 circle rate performance. Watch the full video to find out which ones!

this is literally the only and biggest con of the f16 in dcs for me, but it hurts 😭

To all you Viper maintainers out there:

ITS JUST A GAME. DON'T LEAK DOCUMENTS AND THROW AWAY YOUR CAREER.

The fact that you're that close to each other is a sign that something is terribly wrong

My interpretation is that the F-16 is a fast fighter, and the hornet is a slow fighter. It's easier to bleed speed than it is to gain speed, so the hornet usually comes out on top in a slow speed fight.

I went to college in Charleston, and the F-16’s from McEntire AB, and the Hornets from MCAS Beaufort would often do BCM right over campus. It would almost always start as a flight of 4 vipers being trailed by 4 hornets, then suddenly everyone would break at once and it normally took about 7 seconds for the 16’s to get behind their hornets and kill them

F-16 needs to play a perfect game, F-18 needs to mess up for it to be possible. So annoying certain larger YouTubers push this false narrative that the f-16 is good, which doesnt bring attention to the problem that needs fixing

Fun fact the F16 out turned the F18 in the mock dogfights of the LWF competition in the early 70s. Leaving the legendary Col Boyd to be perplexed - he thought the 18 with two engines should win but pilots reported that, not so much winning, but escaping via the tight turning radius (buttonhook turn they called it). See EM theory and such and so forth

The f16 can take 9Gs but the hornet takes 7.5Gs. Skill issue 💀💀

“It’s not the plane, it’s the pilot” holds a LOT of truth here. The F-18 clearly is pulling hard to bleed a lot of speed, not really a conventional rate fight.

I’ve outrated my friends with a tomcat vs the f16 multiple times 😂, it’s kinda crazy how that’s possible but as the tomcat not complaining. Most of the time I’m fighting blackouts more then the planes capability’s

Tears were rolling down my left eye as we zoomed through the sky in this F 16 ride along. The pressure hit me unexpectedly, even though he told me it was about to happen. I tried to look around, but all I could see were the skies above me. I was being catapulted to my seat. My legs were tightened as hard as possible and I concentrated on my breathing. Tsssth. Pause. Tsssth. Pause. Tsssth. Pause. I didn’t know how much of this pressure I could take! And just as fast as it came, it was gone.

“Congratulations, Ezzy. You just withstood 8.5 G-forces, and you did great!”

That, my friend, was only part of my adventure and an unexpected bucket list item checked off going on an F 16 ride along! Now, if you ever get the incredible privilege to go on an F 16 ride along, that’s amazing. But don’t think you only have to get this adrenaline rush in the U.S. Air Force. I’ll link you with some places you could go, the prices, and tips on getting yourself and your body ready for your adrenaline rush. Estas listo?

What You Need to Do Before Your F 16 Ride Along

Getting Fitted, Medical, and Safety

I was over the moon when I found out I got to fly in an F 16 aircraft and at Top Gun OF ALL PLACES! *insert Top Gun anthem music to get stuck in your head here* There was much more to the process than I thought. I can tell you now that I definitely respect what our pilots do up there now more than ever.

First things first, time to get fitted!

I’m not sure how it may be with other aircraft that are not combat aircraft, but with the F 16, our pilots (and backseat pilots lol) have to wear a flight suit and a G-suit over it. Without getting too technical, it’s pretty much inflatable pants that help you sustain the G-Forces when you’re in the jet.

For whose didnt understand;
The F-16 Fighting Falcon is one of the most effective multirole fighter jets used worldwide, designed for both air superiority and ground attack missions. Its design emphasizes lightness and aerodynamic efficiency. The airframe has a low drag coefficient, ensuring stability even at high speeds. The fly-by-wire system enables electronic balancing of the aircraft rather than manual control, significantly reducing the pilot's workload during high-maneuverability situations. This system also allows the aircraft to have a deliberately unstable structure, enabling quicker and more agile turns compared to traditional aircraft designs.
At maximum speed, the F-16 can reach approximately Mach 2, twice the speed of sound. The aircraft can withstand up to 9G forces, delivering a turn rate of up to 25 degrees per second. This exceptional maneuverability provides pilots with a critical advantage, especially in close-range air combat (dogfights). The wing design is semi-delta shaped, offering low drag at high speeds and high lift at lower speeds. The wings are swept at a 40-degree angle, enhancing aerodynamic efficiency and enabling tighter turn radii. Additionally, the 11 underwing hardpoints allow the aircraft to carry a wide variety of weapons and munitions, making it versatile for different mission types.
The F-16 is powered by either the Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-200 or the General Electric F110-GE-129 engines. These engines produce up to 129 kN of thrust with afterburner, allowing the aircraft to maintain performance even during vertical climbs. The vertical climb rate is approximately 254 meters per second, enabling rapid altitude gain in a short time.
Advanced radar and avionics systems, such as the AN/APG-68 radar, enable effective detection and tracking of both air and ground targets. This radar system performs long-range scans, simplifying target acquisition and providing early warnings against enemy threats.
In turning maneuvers, the angle of attack (AOA) is crucial. The F-16 is designed to maintain aerodynamic stability even during high-AOA maneuvers. Its maximum AOA is approximately 25 degrees, allowing the aircraft to generate high lift

I'd heard the Hornet will beat a 16 in a 1 circle, but didn't also know it could outrate the 16 in DCS. That sounds like a bug

According to podcasts, the legacy 18 and the 16 are about 50/50 in dogfight victories

Honestly if I played this game I’d main either the mig 29 or the jas 39 grippen if either of em are in DCS
