That’s because these planes where designed for different roles. The f-14 was a high speed interceptor that then took on other roles. The F/A-18 was designed as a multi role airframe from the start.

God that picture of a legacy Hornet is so good! It’s not as aggressive as the super Hornet but it’s smaller and more sleek in my opinion

The thing about the F-14 is it’s better as a fighter than the F-18, but it’s not as advanced in technological systems and stuff (yes I know if they kept it they would’ve upgraded it) but the F-18 is a multi role aircraft which can be used for many tasks where as the F-14 can be used for less tasks

The reason the F-14 pulls more G’s is because it doesn’t have a flight computer to stop it, unlike the F/A-18’s

The F-14 Is a air superiority Fighter where the F-18 is a multi role fighter they both fill different roles so at the end of the day it comes down to what they are needed for

Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of the channel but I have a few points to make.

1. You didn’t test the weapons
2. They have different roles
3. Different prices to maintain quality

As a tomcat fan boy, what makes the Hornet a threat to the tomcat is that it turns better. In a fight with a Hornet you really need to jam the WEZ and stay out of the way of its nose, which is really hard because it has great nose authority. In a tomcat, your best bet is to either try for a Phoenix shot at long range or if you get in close force a 2 circle fight.

For the g force test did you use the g paddle in the f18 because that lets you go to higher Gs
