FYI Adam Savage indirectly mentioned you in his last video.. I believe he was talking about the camera boom you made, which has inspired him to think about 3D printing more.

Dear this video, sorry you didn't do too well and did not get the usual number of people watching you. You have a spreadsheet and a proper scientific method and all kinds of matrices of tests. This is total bonkers overkill and dedication to the cause of finishing wood and you get a big hug from me. Alexandre this must have taken so much time and as a resource it is absolutely invaluable congratulations indeed

I do not intend to learn anything you do in your videos, but you're so cool and entertaining. I watch them all

This is one of the best product testing examples I've seen. Super satisfying to see all the data viz for it. You're my hero.

This was insanely well done! Great job! Saved me a ton of time figuring out what to choose, thank you!

5:56 Water does not stop the reaction of the oily rags. It just delays it, till they are dry again. After that, they may still ignite.
Leave the rags out to open air for a day, then dispose of them next day. The hardening reaction should be done after that. Alternatively, put them in an air tight container and they will not harden, so you can reuse the rag, or sponge. ive seen people use old pickle jars for example.

I love your channel and love you make the files SO affordable! My dad has been talking about having me 3D print him drawer organizers for over a year now. Bought the PLA but never bought the files or told me which ones he wants! So for father's day this year I'm just going to do it and start printing basic organizers and then he can get into it and tell me more customized ones. But I've watched some of your videos since he sent me the organizer one last year and I love them. Thank you!

I've been using Osmo hardwax oil for everything for years, especially the Amber color. Just love the look, feel and how long it lasts.
Outdoor furniture still looks good after being outside for years. Both in harsh Australian and Swedish climates.

OW Incredible effort you have made in this video, it's been a while since I've been on the channel and my goodness what I've been missing. Great job!

Not all the VOC are the same. For example, the spirit dye gives off ethanol. The ones you want to worry about as I understand it are things like toluene and methyl ethyl ketone solvents.

I’ve heard others here on YT say that they sand to 180 grit without any issue with Osmo and Rubio. In fact some have said 120 is just too rough for a finished piece. But incase you’re wondering about Osmo Polyx in “Raw” which has the light amount of white pigment to hold wood’s natural color without yellowing or getting orangey… it’s stunning! I tested on two sanded pieces of Hickory at 180 grit and it does a good job of covering with a tiny amount. Yes it’s expensive but holy cow it goes a long way and the point is to really rub in the least amount possible otherwise it pulls and remains tacky or it can’t dry!!! It’s hard to describe it, it’s an oil finish no doubt but it didn’t orange up the hickory, in fact as it’s drying it’s lightened some close to the raw sections of hickory but there is a big difference between the Raw oil applied areas and the actual raw wood and that is the depth of color… I mean the Raw oil made all the depths and variations of color and grain in the hickory suddenly show up. It’s gorgeous and I’m very picky about finishes. I hate staining wood, sometimes it’s needed but I love to appreciate the wood as it naturally is except for some protection. It’s like applying a water based polyurethane only with Osmo polyx raw you can see and feel the grain and not that it’s fuzzy or rough but there isn’t that awful layer of plastic on top that ruins the wood. To see someone using it check out Tamar at 3x3 Custom where she applied it to her daughter’s white oak, platform bed and it’s stunning on the white oak as well but it’s even better in person! The other thing that I like about this is according to Osmo (there’s demo videos here on YT) I can apply their original polyx on top of the Polyx in Raw for more protection and to add more luster. I haven’t tried that yet, but I will and can’t wait to see the results

Your attention to detail and thoroughness is insane. Thanks for putting together such a comprehensive video.

Incredibly helpful! Will you be releasing the data/spreadsheet? I can see myself referencing it often, if so!

Great and very informative video. For high-use surfaces such as drawer fronts I can also recommend bi-component PU conversion lacquers. They exist in ultra matt and some are also lightly pigmented, such that the optics and feeling of the wood are largely preserved while providing far superior resistance to the environment than oil-based finishes. 2h drying time between coats, 2 coats, so you can finish your whole projet in half a day. I have had good experiences with Hesse Lignal.

that is absolutely irrelevant to me but the amount of work you put into your videos is AMAZING!!

Hey man, great video. I used Rubio mono coat and it works, it is easy to apply, I will see in time how it will perform, after one week the flagrance is still present. I only used Nitro lacquer in Europe, which isn't so persistent and it is durable. We will see my friend how this Rubio mono coat works. Thanks again for all your effort.

Did you consider doing a stain test with a kitchen cleaner as surely this would be used in a kitchen to clean surfaces and to test if it would have an effect on the colour?
