I appreciated the breakdown on the exact angles that most isometric games follow. It led me down a rabbit hole for sure lol!

There is also 3D graphics on 2D style isometric. Back in the isometric era, consumer PCs weren't as powerful as developer machines, so developers made all graphics in 3D and prerendered them in isometric form.

Great video, Tamara! You certainly seem to be carving out a niche in the isometric games space! I liked the bit at the end at the end by the way, it felt like we were seeing your real personality instead of your professional side with the tutorial, not that there's anything wrong with being professional of course. But personally I think you should show more of your personality like that if you can, it made made you seem more relatable and like someone people will care about and want to see do well. Which can be a good thing for a Youtuber of course! The Youtubers I watch the most are the ones where I almost feel like they're a friend, or someone I could be friends with at least, even if they don't know that I exist haha. Of course there is a danger that you could end up with a stalker or something that way, so it's up to you.

I almost forgot to mention, but great job with the editing as well, how long did it take you, if you don't mind me asking?

Fun fact: In Death's Door. The "little crow" is actually a 3 and a half meter giant crow, since everything seems to be scaled up in that game. I think they did that to solve shadow issues when the camera is too far away.

Interestingly, Transistor only makes use of 2d sprites and assets. It does make use of 3d lighting however.

Love your videos by the way.

One of the things I've always wonder with 3d isometric games is if developers delete all the object's faces not facing the camera? just to decrease a little the geometry count

Do you know how to make the camera follow only the players 'z' position at an offset instead of following the players every move?

I would like for my player to move left and right freely without the camera following. I only want the camera to follow my players' forward position, kind of like color bump 3d
