Volvo xc90 t6 stuck door How to open a rear door that will not open

Quick how to on opening the rear doors of a Volvo XC90 when the lock fails to unlock and the door won't open at all.

I think I failed to mention to unhook the window from the regulator, pull the rubber plug in the center of the panel. Then move the window till you can see the clip that holds it onto the regulator. Push the clip and pull the window up.

The rear door panel has 2 screws in the center pull (remove the cover) and 3 7mm bolts behind the wood grain panel. To remove the panel, start on the large end with a plastic trim tool and pry the panel of the clips. The rear of the panel slides out once all clips are pulled out. Then the panel pulls straight up and off.

Thanks for the video! I was able to unjam the deadlock through the speaker hole without taking out the whole assembly (only remove the panel and the speaker); try to use the other door’s deadlock location for reference and poke away

I’m having a similar issue one one of them(2017), but in my case the right, rear window and lock don’t work(checked the #33 20 amp. fuse, but is good).

We were able to get rear drivers door open with your instruction. Doing passenger door but pushing on back of actuator and pulling door release is not working. Any thoughts on how to get lock to release?

Do you know if the drivers front door panel will come off with the door closes?

Thanks for posting this. I just did this process last night. It was a BEAST. Took out speaker to get to those screws. How did you NOT have the window come down when you took they vertical bar/window raiser deal out? Do you have the window taped? How easy is the replacement of the mech? Just those three screws?

I had the same issue on my 2017 XC90 but after been priced €850 from Volvo for a replacement door actuator I decided to investigate it myself. My rear door was completely dead locked from both inside and outside of the car but when I checked it out I found that the dead lock mechanism had become stuck and by using a small rod I could release it without completely dismantling the door panelling. After I released the dead lock mechanism I then greased it up and haven't had a issue since and that was over 1 year ago.
