Reviewing the Calibrating of Hanna Checkers Ca, PO4, PO3, Alk

Today we reviewed the process of calibration testing four popular Hanna Checker testers with the available Hanna calibration tests you can buy online via Hanna directly or at BRS online. The Phosphate one kinda bites a little since one time use. Also note if your checker is off and not within specs you will have to contact Hanna to repair or replace for the units are pretty much factory set. Overall its good to calibrate yes, but kinda a bummer on one of the tests like phosphate being one time use.

I get different results from each new bottle of reagent, I used the last three tests of my original one with the new one and found a constant to multiply my new results by to get a somewhat accurate reading but it’s irritating. Everyone gasses these up so much but you get 50 tests or whatever and then it needs to be sent back to Hannah because they’re only calibrated to the original batch of reagent it’s sold with and Hannah’s labs are too ASS to have standards for the reagent that they produce. It’s not that hard to refine your procedure and produce a product that’s actually consistent

As far as the P04 tester why not just put some distilled water test it and see if it reads zero?
