Technically the USS Enterprise (CVN- 65) is in universe and served for 51 years. That beats the starship Enterprise by 11 years

It did get a fair share of refits and upgrades, though.

Flash forward to the TNG era where Enterprises only survive 6 or 7 years apparently

Captain April was also featured in a couple of novels. Also, after the enterprise was destroyed, my understanding is that in ST-V the new enterprise was created from the totally refitted Lexington. But hey, the novels may have taken some creative license.

The enterprise commanded by captain archer was missed out

But in Search for Spock (1984), it was mentioned the enterprise was 20 years old. It may be an easter egg that the Star Trek franchise started about 20 years prior in 1964 (The Cage), but if put in canon, it doesn’t make sense

Was a April a recent history add? Of was he apart the original story line in the 60s and 70s?

So would they suddenly make another enterprise after voyager or did that name stop after the next generation movies. I wonder if in the next 200-300 years when we will be exploring our own backyard solar system we will have an enterprise of our own either as a starship or vacation cruise to other planets.
