The intros feels like a Japanese Ghost Stories storytelling. Especially the Aknosom's closeup shot, creepy yo...And Khezu feels like the combination of Nukekubi & Noppera-bo.

The Somnacanth's quest description is actually really disturbing. It had been in the process of mauling the helpless hunter. Lucky the cats got them to safety, 'cause that would not have been a nice way to go.

You could literally take the whole Arzuros description and stick it to a Deviljho intro and it would be perfect

Well, based on the dialogue of these intro cutscenes, Fatalis isn't the only Elder Dragon that holds a major grudge regarding the old days.

This makes me picture King Hassan narrating these monsters as warnings.

I think I like Mizutsune the best out of all these monsters. Graceful and elegant, and practical, as the soapy bubbles it gives off could help with the cleaning without having to use water. Big help for those who don’t clean much.

Aknosom’s intro has a very eerie atmosphere, and I think it is probably a Resident Evil reference.
The famous “first zombie scene” from the original Resident Evil on ps1.
That famous scene showed the back of a zombie eating something (a corpse of course), then he noticed the player’s existence and slowly looked over his shoulder, revealing a devilish face with a hungry-looking eye staring at the player)

And it doesn’t help that Aknosom is also called the “umbrella bird”

Another fun fact is that MHR is the first Monster Hunter that uses the RE engine which was originally developed for Resident Evil 7

I heard both Japanese vision and English vision. I will highly suggest playing with Japanese. The reason why I choose it is that the Japanese have much better with the sound of character giving out and the big words after the intros are much better than the English vision.

I love both Basarios and Gravios. I hope they add the latter in a future DLC, if they’ll ever make one, of course.
