I was on Facebook marketplace one day and I came across a Weird Gaming PC Scam. I was trying to find a deal so I could flip a pc for some profit but instead I came across a $130 gaming pc!?

I've also had someone list a rx 580 pc with an fx 6300 in it as an 5070 pc. They removed it after I reported it and copy and pasted it to another state. I feel so bad for people and it ruins it for those of us that just do this as a hobby.

unrelated but the number of used PCs listings on marketplace that have the shittiest low res pictures without any img stabilization is crazy. The pictures in the video were surprisingly good for a scam

there are so many my son died first person to text this numbers wins his 4090 pc all the time. Reports do nothing as they are seen as real posts not scams.

I have reported about a dozen of these scammers to Meta, and every time they say it does not violate their terms and they don't pull the ad. Even when I contest the ruling. Makes no sense.

I live in Texas and there are tons of scams saying things like: MY SON DIED IN A CAR WRECK AND I CAN'T BEAR TO LOOK AT THIS PC ANYMORE. FIRST PERSON TO MESSAGE ME ABOUT IT WILL GET IT FOR FREE! And its some beast of a PC. Such a scam.

I see these all the time on my fbm, theres ones with drones, ps5, pcs, and even parts. I checked out the scam site and it looks like a scam, even if you didn't know that already.

This is the exact scam I see everyday on Facebook marketplace, nothing new but this time they used just a bad computer build.

Yep, definitely a scam. Though the first time I encountered (some time last year) the scammer had an account that had been created a few years ago, not a freshly created account. So possibly a hacked account.

I really hope no one falls for it but people can be really weird. I mean if someone can sell a gaming PC on marketplace and all the description says is "it runs good, DM me for more info" then those scammers must get some people clicking on that website link.

Seen hundreds of these ads on Marketplace as well. I think the accounts get hacked and they use the hacked accounts to post this.

This has been going on for a while on Marketplace. I see the same thing for anything.
"Bought this PC for $90 through this website" and what not.

This scam has been going for years, I'm in New Zealand, was reporting like 8 a day for a month last year. I would even see the same image for the same graphics card, listed with the exact description. All of them said they were in my city, yet their names and profile pics told a completely different story.

I noticed those scams on graphics cards that are being shipped, they probably would ship you a picture of the thing your buying lol😂
