Despite their "No returns" policy, you can return it due to Amazon A-Z guarantee which as a seller on amazon, they've agreed to abide by.

Pretty sure Amazon cannot sell those. Lootboxes where you get more or less value than exactly what you pay for should qualify as gambling, and I am pretty sure Amazon is not licensed for that kind of thing and neither are these sellers, so this is flatly illegal.

Jay, you need to ask Amazon to audit this seller to see if they even have any current generation graphics cars being sent out.

I just realised a lot of countries (especially in Europe) are starting to forbid lootboxes in games as they are compared to lottery but the same logic does not applies on cards deck boosters while the concept is very similar. (you are guarantee to obtain something but it is random so if you want a specific one it could cost a lot of money).

The part where it says "This is a adventure about Courage and Luck!" Hahahaha

I'm surprised they even sent a PC component, I expected a box full of cicada molts or something.

Thank you for putting your time into making this video for the public.. Scammers need to understand that they just need to get a real 9-5

Surprised they actually sent a video card at all. My wife bought one of these mystery boxes; I don't remember what she thought she was buying but she thought she was getting something at least worth $30. What they sent her was about 4 dishwasher tablets. I was fairly angry when I found out she was wasting money on scams like this when we are on a tight budget already, but luckily amazon refunded our money after I contacted them about the scam.

Best practice is to check who the "sold by" and "ships from" on market place sellers then do a little Google searching on the company/entity. Spend 2-5 minutes before ya drop 100s or 1000s of dollars on an item.

This is a very commonplace practice on all second hand markets as well, I see ads for these mystery boxes in fb marketplace, craigslist, offerup, etc. I'm surprised you even got something and that it worked! You really don't see anyone ever talking about receiving anything from these boxes so the chance that it could be a modern card is basically none.

I know I work at an Amazon warehouse and sometimes when we are able to catch these the customers are refunded. But these shops out of China have been known to send anything from fakes, defects, to absolutely sending hair ties in place of hard drives. We try to catch it at the warehouse (packages are weighed before shipping but we can’t catch them all)

Your participation in that mystery box was so "brave" and "courageous"

By the way Jay, you just got the top of the line, when compared to the other mystery boxes. This item was fulfilled by Amazon, so you or anyone that got scammed can just return it for a full refund.

What’s even worse with this, websites like
Pcgamer and digitaltrends wrote articles about these boxes and didn’t really point out how fishy this seemed or how it can be seen as a scam. It almost came across as “Hey, you might get something really good and with todays market it might be worth a shot.” Kind of sad if you ask me.

I really appreciate this video. I am usually really careful about falling for scams. I did fall for one during the graphic card shortage, and I felt really stupid. It’s good to know that we all fall for these once in awhile😂

This is why I love shopping on Amazon. If you get scammed, get hold of customer service and the will issue you a refund. I have never failed to get a refund when I deserved one. Mystery boxes are an obvious scam, that's something people need to give their heads a shake about. People should know better.

Funny that the seller says "no returns accepted!" although it is a "FBA" product. Amazon will definitely accept a return for this, and if the seller marked the ASIN as "non-returnable" then you'd still get a refund by Amazon if you said "it's not what I expected". That's part of what a FBA-seller has to agree to.
EDIT: Should add, if the seller also sells the product via a Marketplace-listing (sold and shipped by the seller with the frankly unspeakable name) then a potential buyer would have a much harder way to fight this purchase. Though, most customer-service agents will still file a buyers protection claim for such things and it might go through. But yeah, at least Jay bought via FBA.

I once had a crashing problem that was completely random, I eventually figured out it was the HDMI cable to my TV (that was disabled as a monitor). Never underestimate the power of a bad cable.

Oh my God, I can't believe I won a MacBook Pro! Thank you Jay! I sent the Google play cards you asked for!

Scam them back and say the card was broken and you're leaving the country soon so you have no time to wait for a replacement. Amazon usually keeps things simple in such cases to favor their customers over the sellers, because they want repeated customers on the platform, while sellers come and go, so they're far more replaceable.
