When livestock losses exceed that which insurance can cover, ranchers and farmers will go out of business and further beef shortages will bring that crime to homesteaders and small farms.

PSA: Rerired Federal Compliance officer here (who owns a farm full of cows etc). EVERYBODY needs to understand that the USDA, the FDA, and ANY OTHER three letter agency has no jurisdiction over generational farming. Generational farming is what we used to do back in the day when all the animals were not locked in a barn. Anybody can claim generational farming and a religious exemption and they have no choice but to leave. Sometimes religious expression includes feeding other people, OR YOUR OWN COMMUNITY which means no government interference. Anybody who has animals and a three-letter agency shows up to test them or tell them new regs or buy them so they can kill them needs to tell them they are trespassing. ❤

I'm a beef farmer. A cow has a heifer calf, (another young female). It will be 14 -16 months before we breed her, 9 months to gestate a new calf. If that calf is another heifer we repeat the process and keep her for breeding. If it is a bull calf, we would steer the animal. It will be about 20 months on average before that animal is at maturity for slaughter. So just a replacement takes around 4 years to get new meat to market.

So the drought in Texas a couple of years ago has still not fully run through the marketplace.

The swings in cattle inventory takes years to correct, not months

I wanted to add that our livestock guardian dog is a HUGE game changer on the security of our livestock and chickens at night. If i was a stranger sneaking up on our property you wouldnt be to fond of running into our dog who would be quick to meet you. We recently added this stray we recued to our nightly guard duty, an Australian Cattle dog. When we get more than our 6 acres we will be sure to upgrade our dog night watch to at least 3 if not more. Dogs are amazing guardians if you get the right breed and moderate training.

Down in the south, many years ago, My grandmother told me how neighbors got together and slaughtered a pig. They were mostly all poor. Everyone got a portion. When someone got married they would share things like flour and eggs, then give a pig or chickens for a wedding gift. They would make dresses out of feed bags. Not many had horses or wagons. So who ever had a mule or horse and was going to town, would volunteer to pick up stuff for the neighbors. They would borrow from each other. When there was a bad person in the community, he would find himself without and have to leave. Those days are gone. Criminals get protected now. The wealthy has taken and people have willfully given up so much of their freedom.

Back in the settlement days, cattle stealing was a hangin' offense.

Dogs and geese are great! The geese are so loud. They are like a security alarm. Lol

I live 600 yds from the road and my dog lets me know anytime anyone turns off the road.... she's a badass German Shepherd that scares the beegezus out of everyone and I have the necessary backup.

I’ve been trying to talk to my husband about this for a while. He thinks I’m just nuts. I have been purchasing freeze dried food cans, a butane burner and butane canisters, and things like that. I’m about to try canning for the first time. Wish me luck 🤞

We are raising shepherds. We call it walking the sheep. We don't spend all day but we walk several times a day through varying neighbors properties. It's not what we planned but the time spent with my wife and sons watching sheep eat is priceless.

“A ‘few’ stollen bulls?” Don’t downplay that! Bulls held for breeding are generally worth a LOT comparatively to just any bovine in the field. Only the best of the best are kept for breeding.
Depending who is raising them, they may be fathering more than the calves in their own herd… if the rancher has a prize bull it may be bringing a good $$ for semen for artificial insemenation .
On most dairies, that’s how it is done, invariably. Stealing a “few bulls” is like stealing a few racehorses, or a garage full of classic cars.

My wife just remarked this week. The availability of beef is getting less and less. Pressure can beef like it's disappearing, while you can. You'll need a 7 year supply soon.

I can't get a beautiful, huge dog but I can go one further I have a huge God. He takes good care of me despite a negligent slumlord, and indifferent neighbors.

I'm so thankful the Father gave me eyes to see and ears to hear. Saw this coming around 2016. Most definitely knew something was up when little F man said if DT is elected, he'd have to deal with a pop-up pandemic. Then, all of a sudden, the chicken farms, cattle, and fish processing centers we're being killed off and burned down. Those 600 head of cattle that "suddenly" died in Kansas and was blamed on the heat. People didn't notice that not one scavenger was eating the dead carcus. Didn't even see them circling in the sky. People don't understand it takes a while to do a controlled demolition of a country.
I read many different scriptures. What I've come to understand is this started way back in the 1400's. I know people will disagree on this, but the riders didn't just start in 2020. People don't listen. They have no open mind, no critical thinking skills, and no self-preservation skills.
I know people think I'm crazy. Family has said I'm "out there." That's ok because i know what's coming, and people better know the Creator and get some decernment, so they are not deceived.
Hang onto your hat. 2025 will be like nothing we've ever seen before.

We buy beef from buddies uncle. He has a ranch in south Dakota. We split a full beef between 4 families.
Been doing that for 8 years now. Best meat we can get at a cheaper price than the grocery store. I'll buy from them as long as they are selling.

My dad’s people raised cattle in southwest before there was a southern border. They are still there. God Bless them.

Dogs, dogs, dogs!!! Our first line of defense. As soon as someone turns on our drive they are sounding the alarm. My dogs have never attacked or bitten anyone, but people fear them. Ups, fedex, won’t get out unless someone comes out. We like it that away. God Bless Jeremy

My dad didn't have trouble with 2 legged predators back in the day, his
trouble was with the 4 legged predators. He got a solar powered generator and turned his fences into electric. He also hooked up several motion detector spot lights. These addition bits of security brought his losses down. These added bits of security may deter the 2 legged kinds if predators that are starting to make a come back today.🤷🏼

It was a lot of work, but we built a wooden fence around our 10 acre place. I put two hot wire on the inside and have topped a part of one side with barbed wire. I have been reluctant to put up much barbed wire. It is a great one time investment.
