Kia Ceed 2021 review: a new engine is all you need

Kia has updated its Ceed hatchback for 2021 with a new, 1.5-litre petrol engine. And that's about it. Is it enough to bring it level with the Ford Focus and VW Golf?

In a word, yes. The new Ceed is not only more refined with its new motor, replacing the older and more clattery 1.4-litre petrol engine, but the fit and finish of the family hatchback is up there with the class leaders. While not quite as thrilling as a BMW 1 Series, which admittedly is considerably more expensive, the new Ceed is packed with equipment and feels as though it'll live forever - 7 of those years covered by Kia's legendary warranty. Here's what Cam thought when he put it to the test on UK roads.

Kia have really upped there quality besides lexus and toyota no one else offers a 100, 000 mile warranty German cars are crap japanese and Korean are absolutely superb and brilliant

I would rather a ceed over golf n focus because of reliability. Vw makes unreliable cars, full of niggling problems unlike the golf of old that were over engineered.

the interior is head and shoulders above focus. please stop stupidly praising fords, they aren't fabricated anymore in uk so no need to be biased towards them. the only merit of fords is good driving characteristics. the interior of the ceed is also above the new golf 8, which is more plasticky than ever with crap infotainment.

After watching your video, I went to look and made an accepted offer for a KIA CEED. Later found out that it lacked facilities that my 2013 KIA RIO has e.g electrically adjustable wing mirrors and mirror indicators. These "conviniences" were lacking in KIA CEED in this day and age. you would think that it has a satnav but it hasn't. You have to pair it with your mobile for it to work as a satnav... HMMM. If you forget you mobile, you are in trouble. Fancy trying to sell this car in 4 years time. You shold explain in your title that the 1.0l engine variety lack certain gadgets

Not to be a @@#$%^, but in Q4 the new one is coming . Engine is still same though.
