Let CarGurus help you find your next car:

The Kia Ceed has been lightly facelifted in time for the 2022 model year, in an attempt to keep pace with newer rivals such as the VW Golf MK8, and new versions of the Vauxhall Astra and Peugeot 308. Are the changes enough to warrant the Ceed having a place on your family car shortlist? In this CarGurus UK review, Chris Knapman tests out the Sportswagon estate model in entry-level 2 specification to see if its impressive practicality, warranty, and standard equipment are matched by the driving experience.

Everything you seem to dislike is totally irrelevant to me, as a father of two and with a tight budget. Engine is fine, style is fine and specs are perfect. Combined with reasonable price and 7-year warranty I have absolutely no problem recommending the Ceed SW to anybody. I am just about to go from my 2020 model to a new one. Haven't found anything that could compete.

I never understood why for some people it's such a problem to drop gears. You cannot expect any low-displacement engine to give you significant power below 2500-3000 rpm. That's the whole point of gearboxes... If you don't know how to use them, just get an automatic.

I think the approved used Proceed is a pretty good call.

I have that car, motorway, I went up to 175km per hour with more in it, lovely reliable cheap car to run. Well worth the price.

We've had the previous JD version of this car with the 1.6 diesel since 2013. It's been highly practical, dependable and economical (up to 75mpg on long runs). Hasn't needed any non-routine maintenence until hitting 85k miles. Only down side is that it's a euro5 diesel. Would recommend as decent, long legged family car. Agree about being OK to drive but not super engaging either.

I think I'd opt for a Toyota Corolla Touring Sports.

erm 16 inch wheels means less likely to get broken suspension spring on uk shitty pothole riddled roads

As a car that does what it needs to it's great transport with a great warranty. As a fun car it's time to look elsewhere.

The idea that driving an SUV makes you seem stylish and adventurous is laughable. Now that everyone has one, it just makes you a sheep.

I can never understand why they put something as small as a 1 litre in a big estate car, it's no surprise that it's not quick to respond as you simply can't defy the laws of physics as a small engine pushing a big car is going to 1st of all have to work harder to go faster and as a result not be as economical as many would think as many will buy one of these thinking that and they're in for a big shock. I think the 1.5 if going petrol or if like me you need and prefer a diesel then that's fine but I personally even if I needed a petrol car avoid anything medium to large sized with such a small engine.

I wouldn't buy any car that doesn't have a spare wheel and well to store it in.

Might get a bit bogged down with a 1.0 litre engine, and all seats occupied plus luggage in the
