I find it baffling that there are STILL no easy-to-access, comprehensive item drop rate lists distinguishing between online and offline play. At least, not for 8 Deluxe, and not any I can find. A bummer for me, since I mostly play local with friends rather than online.

I remember in Mario Kart Advaced you could throw Red Shells behind you to act as traps that would home in on any kart that passed too close.

My preference is to take an early lead in lap one then take every shortcut so while everyone else is battling behind you you slowly get far enough ahead that by lap 3 you can get hit by 2 or 3 blue shells and still be far enough ahead to win.

I remember constantly scanning the map in mario kart 7 for a blue shell, and then after the blue shell was used on first place i would speed up and get to first place

I did an experiment to see how broken items are at lower places. I didn’t move for ten seconds after the start of the race and got Bullet Bills, Stars and Golden Mushrooms galore. I got first place.
