Mid 40s and weight has crept up over the years, belly fat and feeling like crap. Intermittent fasting worked fantastically and fits my psychology. Down 24 lbs, am happily back in touch with being hungry, feel mentally stronger, and so far as I can tell visibly and strength wise, have lost very little except fat. 18-6 or 20-4 depending on how I'm feeling. Cleaned up my diet but no counting or restriction within that window. Just eat enough to not be hungry.

I totally understand what these guys are saying. They don't deny the health benefits physically/physiologically. They're saying it's an issue psychologically b/c most people don't have the discipline to eat the right foods when they break fast. It works for me but definitely doesn't work for many

These guys confused using a 16/8 intermittent fasting routine with straight up starving yourself. Bad video most of their other stuff is solid

This topic is clearly not your forte. Intermittent Fasting is not starvation and is beneficial for fat loss and muscle preservation.

Humans have been intermittent fasting for 200 thousand years. Back when early humans were hunting and gathering their own foods, they didn't eat 4 meals a day. There was no refrigerator or freezer to grab your stored food from. I'd highly doubt they made a kill for meat every single day. They'd go multiple hours without eating (even days perhaps). When they did kill an animal, they feasted, ate as much as they could, obviously it's not the processed foods we see today, but healthy/natural meats, plants, roots etc. Today's Intermittent fasting is the same thing. Just eat healthy in your eating window, get enough nutrients, eat enough protien, fats and fiber to feel full, exercise (preferably in your fasted state for fat loss) and be active. I've done IF (usually 16/8 or 18/4) for over 2 years. I initially lost the 40 extra pounds I needed to. I've kept it off. I find it VERY easy to do. I'm rarely ever starving by the time my eating window is up. If intermittent fasting was dangerous, the evolution of humans would have ended with us going extinct many thousands of years ago.

I lost 70lbs intermittent fasting and over the course of 5 years I've gained around 20 of it back and that's largely due to the fact that I lift weights so I've gained a significant amount of muscle. Most people don't have have an issue with bulimia so in my opinion I think fasting intermittently is extremely beneficial for weight loss. The term "intermittent fasting" is a trend but fasting intermittently is not new at all. I love these guys and love all of the muscle building advice they have but I disagree with them on this one. Just my opinion.

This is probably the most ill informed video on intermittent fasting I’ve ever seen.

These dudes think they know everything...Fasting has been around since the beginning of time. Fasting is a good thing, whether to lose weight or for spiritual reasons...Everything in balance.

Intermittent fasting has worked for me. You dont starve yourself...just stay fasted for a few hrs and then get all your calories in during your eating period. You still track macros and stuff. Lost over 50lbs using it.

I love MP, but this is terrible advice. Fasting has major benefits. I lost over 100lbs from intermittent fasting. I was 260 and fat! The thing is I always lifted weights and worked out.. even when I was 260. I felt like nothing literately worked for me to lose weight until I discovered fasting. I feel better than I ever did too. I definitely look better than I ever did too. Muscular, focused, better energy, I don’t think about food throughout the I was baffled that they honestly think it’s harmful

the fact that I’m in the best shape of my life doing IF is not agreeing with this video in its totality. I *get* and agree that starving yourself or going without food completely isn’t good (and I think that’s what it’s coming off as you guys are saying) opposed to ACTUAL intermittent fasting.. I’m sorry but IF is the only thing that has worked and it isn’t a “diet” for me, it’s truly a lifestyle..

I’m 62 years old and had a bad health scare last year. Went to 16-8 IF coupled with low carb, whole food diet. Lost 60 lbs and trained for strength the entire time. I noticed a staggering improvement in overall fitness & health, plus improved cognition. Blood sugar and insulin resistance under control. I doubted I could ever get healthy again, but IF provided a pathway for me.

Like many followers, I really enjoy this YouTube stream, but I feel they have got this one dead wrong. I am encouraged that so many IFers also follow this channel. For a medical take on IF, I’d suggest following Dr Jason Fung.

That said, keep up the good work guys!

Typically enjoy your videos, and contains great info. This was not the one, I don't think you guys have a good knowledge of how fasting works or what It does.

You guys are correct. People on the comments are in the wrong here and missing the point. Most of these people who got on Intermittent Fasting where most likely eating way too many calories in the beginning so by fasting they are de facto restricting. It eliminates night eating. These things will make you lose weight but it’s not really the fasting component but the calorie restriction component. People in the comments crapping on calorie counting but you are doing the same thing! You aren’t counting but you are still restricting.

This video makes me question every thing else they say. Describing intermittent fasting as binge/starving is foul.
