I lost a teenage daughter a few years ago. She had lots of clothes and we were close to the same size. I saved some of her clothes after she passed for myself of the ones I liked. I saw no problem in wearing her clothes. Clothes are just a material item. Actually, when I slipped on one of her jackets for instance, I felt close to her and had wonderful memories of her wearing it.

I lost my beautiful daughter 5 years ago. She was my soulmate, my best friend, my confidant. She was my everything. I cry for her till today. A mother's grief knows no end. I still keep my daughter's clothes till today. I use her clothes and it brings some solace to me. I feel her near me and comforting me in a special way. Only another mother who has lost her child will understand my pain. I will keep on wearing my daughter's clothes as it brings some comfort to me.

I lost my mom 8 months ago. I wear her nightgowns and some clothes. It brings me comfort and I can still smell her sometimes. It seems weird but it helps me through my grief. One day I'll be able to let her go, but for now I'll hold on.

I wear my dead friends clothes whenever I need his hugs and it soothes so well. Sometimes I wear his shirt under my clothes so I can have this protective feeling, this layer of his closeness over my heart. I feel less alone. I love you Ron. ✌

I once purchased a dead soldier's shoes from a shoemaker. The soldier had brought them in for repair but never came back. I then wore the shoes with much respect and promised the soldier that though I never met him he would not be forgotten.

My Sweet sister passed away in 2000, I was given her clothes. I wore them for years and I had a beautiful life. I dont have any of them anymore since I've gained a little weight 🤭 God Bless everyone.

My mother passed away and she had many elegant dresses and I’m sure she’s glad my wife was gifted them and she proudly wore them 💒

After reading many messages here, I guess many people mis-read or misunderstand the main point of why the old clothes must be burnt or widely distributed. It's not because wear the old clothes will bring you bad luck or what, it is because the old clothes and will make the dead people's soul confused and delay in going to heaven or somewhere they should go for reborn, which is BAD for dead people!

Therefore, Sadhguru suggests to burnt those intimate clothes like underwear and distribute other clothes/stuffs to many different places, so the soul will certainly knows he/she isn't belongs to this space anymore and go to where he/she should go, which is GOOD for the soul!

And SO, it is NOT a problem of using second hand clothes / stuffs too, just wash them thoroughly!!

I recently read "More than a life" book describing Sadhguru's journey of many lifetimes. It has completely baffled me 🙏 and I'm in a state or shock and wonder

I lost my sister to Cancer and she bought me some things before she died and everytime I sit in the chair she bought for me I think about her always positive thoughts, everytime I use the Laptop 💻 or Car 🚗 she bought me, I’m glad I have possessions that are useful to me that remind me of a great sister I had, she is gone but never forgotten the things she gave me, I will do my best to repair them and keep them in my life as long as possible, I think detachment is good but good memories and their triggers don’t need to be eradicated.

A very enlightened teacher in the 90’s told us, his students, that as quickly as possible after his father died, he rushed to his father’s apartment and threw all his father’s possessions into dumpsters in order to cut his father’s ties to his life on earth. He did this to facilitate his father’s transition.
