It was because they owned MINI vehicles. They need what they were getting into. They understood the awesome nature of the vehicle REGARDLESS of the POSSIBLE costs of maintenance.

I just bought a Cooper S Coupeover the Internet. The dealer said the check engine light was on, but they couldn't figure out why. Without asking, he took $3000 off the price.

SOLD! Because I then had bandwidth for a POSSIBLE $3000 in repairs. And I absolutely wanted the coupé S.

What I'm saying is, they were MINI people. That's why they did sweat you maintenance "what ifs".
