The battles between England and France are among the most famous of the medieval period, including the Battle of Hastings in 1066, the Norman invasion of England, and the Battle of Agincourt in 1415. The Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066 saw King Harold defeating an invasion from Norway, but shortly after, he faced Duke William of Normandy at the Battle of Hastings. The Battle of Agincourt in 1415 was a significant English victory against the French during the Hundred Years' War, largely attributed to the effectiveness of English archers and strong leadership by King Henry V.

Welcome to Chronicle; your home for all things medieval history! With documentaries covering everything from the collapse of the Roman Empire to the beginnings of the Renaissance, from Hastings to Charlemagne, we'll be exploring everything the Middle Ages have to offer.

Unfortunately, it's quite difficult to hear the narrator over the background sounds.

The music and other sounds in the background are great, but it’s all TOO LOUD. I’m hanging on every word spoken by the narrator and experts, but many times I struggle to hear/understand them. Excellent content, and narrator’s voice holds my attention.

For anyone interested in the battle of Poitiers 1356 I advise Schwerpunkt's video(s) on it. It's an unprecedented level of tactical analysis that really opens your eyes on Medieval warfare

Another fact based video. I love the little history behind names of places and stations and grammatical spellings of places.
Keep them coming.
Incidentally I used to live in Chesham and used the station extensively and I agree with you its cute little station.

Sorry, I wanted to enjoy this, but the music volume interferes so much with the narration I could not continue 😢

The audio of this video makes it difficult to follow the story.

That background stuff is just way to loud.

The "music" was vile. Are you unfamiliar with sound mixing? 😕

This probably is a great documentary and I am always intrigued with the history of England many iterations. However, this is one of the worst audio renditions I’ve ever attempted to experience. As a result, I quit at the 10 minute mark.

The soundtrack is irritating as ... it's also not quite the right era for each "chapter".

The most important battle that we won against the French, is, arguably, Waterloo, in 1815. That is the battle that ended any hopes that the Communists had of ruling the known world at that time. We defeated Napoleon, and that, effectively, ended any hope that the French had of global conquest. In comparison, the 100 years war, more like the 116 year war, was more like a minor disagreement in comparison.

Easy book to get the British feeling against the Normans -Ivanhoe, and that's set 200 years after Hastings

Way too many commercials. I gave up trying to watch it. Very disappointing.

Who thought those frightful bagpipes was good background music?

A seismic shift from being a Nordic nation centred around the North sea and the Atlantic, to a country facing the continent and focused on France.
