The Bloodiest Medieval Battles You've Never Heard Of

Numerous battles that took place during the Middle Ages are well known. The Battle of Hastings in 1066, for example, has been studied from nearly every angle. In addition to looking at the details of the conflict itself, historians and the general public continue to assess its influence on culture and politics alike.

Many people have the same type of interest in battles fought during the Scottish Wars of Independence, those that took place during the Hundred Years' War, and all kinds of crusading efforts throughout the medieval period. Alongside the best-known battles are numerous little-known skirmishes and conflicts. No less full of carnage and heroism, these fights and their overall impact on life and death during the Middle Ages have been overlooked.

I give you such praises for pronouncing all these cities and people's names effortlessly, not just in this video but in many of them.

"Cnut the great", whose name must be pronounced very carefully..." That cracked me up!

People talk about theses battles and knights , but forget that most of the combatants were not full time soldiers, but rather normal farmers and tradesmen forced to fight in times of war , but when these people died there was nobody to replace them and lands were affected for decades

07:29. The Battle on the Ice is the climax of Russian film Alexander Nevsky, by Sergei Einsestein (1938). You can see Russia was preparing to war when the movie was edited.
Also, the soundtrack by Sergei Prokofiev became a cantata. The charge of the Teutonic Knights is thrilling - a cavalry charge in music.
(Look for the video "BBC Proms 2011 Prokofiev Alexander Nevsky." It's the best charge in music I have seen.)

Still nothing next to the daily battle I had, with my 9 year old every school day, getting him to find and put on his shoes.

Odd and random coincidence, it almost sounded like you said "Canoe the Great" for Cnut and the painting of him looks like he's holding a small canoe in his lap

Man, that's something. Quite a list. Heard of Fontenoy because of England and France in a war in the 1740s.
