DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME.

In my journey to rank the worst spider bites in the United States, one spider I've always been curious about is the tarantula. With their giant fangs, I just KNOW that bite is gonna hurt, but what actually happens when a tarantula bites you? Let's find out.

Here at MyWildBackyard we investigate the secrets of the natural world- secrets that can be hidden in our very own backyards! I want to share the incredible world of insects, spiders and other wildlife with you and inspire you to explore your curiosity. Get out there, and find your adventure!

For those who read the description- we've updated the channel! I'm working on adding more features to videos to better expand our conversations about the secrets we find in the natural world! Introducing the Creature Tier System! There are four rankings:
1. Staple - These are the lowest tier creatures. They are the most common species in a given habitat, and while they're not boring, they're really only exciting when you're exploring a new habitat and you haven't seen them before. Not something to write home about.
2. Neat - These are a step up from Staple. They don't make your entire day, but they are worth taking a closer look at when found. Definitely can be exciting to have a productive day finding many Neat species.
3. Wild - These are exciting to find. Whether they have interesting defensive features that offer a nice challenge in the field, are particularly cool looking, or maybe a little bit rare, Wild species aren't necessarily the MOST memorable of encounters, but they definitely make your day when you see them. An adventure featuring many Wild species will truly be memorable.
4. Gem - These are special. Usually involving extremely interesting biology and significant rarity, Gem species are animals that you really do not see every day. These species can make your whole adventure, and will be very memorable.

Man, that tarantula did NOT want to hurt you. It's always comforting to hear how you talk kindly to the spiders- I never worry that any harm will come to them while watching your videos. Great work! The way her fangs lifted up your skin 😂 gave me the creeps!

I like how she came right back to him, still docile, saying, " Man, I didn't want to do that, but you made me do it. You're pretty warm, though. I can still hang out here, right?"

THIS is the video I REALLY needed to see, Spencer... Thank you! She didn't even want to bite... Had to be harassed into doing it! She was probably threatening to call your parents to give you a good talking to!
Love it 👏 Can you do snakes next 😂

This Tarantula is a beauty and I find it always fascinating how these gentle giants are so docile.

Haha legendary! The bark is definitely worse than the bite with these tarantulas 😂 just the tip of those fangs dip in.

Yeah, aphonopelma species are very reluctant biters. But, just the mechanical damage is enough to cause a little anxiety. People are always surprised when I show them the size of fang molts.

It's nice to see you still being kind to these animals and letting them go after all. You must be really brave to go through all the pain for the curiosity of viewers.

Normally, a tarantula's initial bite is worse than the venom (unless your body has an allergic reaction to the venom).

If this was Coyote, he would have been rolling around in the dirt screaming in agony for an hour. 😂

She was so chill, I was surprised to see the pinching action because I thought a tarantula bite would be more stabby like a snake. Very interesting. They seem to have a lot of control of each chelicerae and fang also. At least from what I have observed with my T's. Thanks for the video!

It's amazing how hard you have to work sometimes to even get some of these arachnids to bite. That looked more like a noogie than a bite. 😂 Well done Spencer! Enjoy your weekend!

WOW! When I was in the USAF, stationed in Texas, I had, well…let’s call it an “encounter” with a Texas Brown. I had never seen a spider that large in my life and I kept trying to “get a better look” at it with the aid of a stick. BIG MISTAKE! I had no intention of hurting the spider, but he or she didn’t know that! The spider turned toward me and raised up on it’s hind legs and made a “hissing” sound and that’s when I got a full picture of it’s fangs! I immediately backed off and allowed the spider to go on it’s way. That Tarantula made a lifelong impression on me! When I watch your awesome videos, I am thankful it’s you and not me!! You are a better man than i sir! No way I would pick a Texas Brown Tarantula up, let alone let it bite me! Thank you for the demonstration and for showing just how docile these spiders really are! Well done!

Very good video. Thanks for not being overly reactive or non-reactive. I felt you gave the info and the bite segment very honestly and that is what these types of videos should be like.

Assassin bug, centipede, red widow, and now the tarantula. For superhuman strength, all you need now is a bite from the purseweb!

Great video!
