When Apple does an event, they showcase a product that is ready to ship by tomorrow. They canceled their driverless project because they don't play the hype smoke and mirrors game like how Tesla does.

Tesla always seemed to have a very low opinion of their shareholders, but they appear to have crossed a line this time.

"Seems like they're trying to pump the stock and I don't know why". Simple. Sales are down. The competing offerings are better quality and built by actual auto makers. The Model S is already five years past due for a replacement design. Tesla has ridden out the first mover wave and they will increasingly be relegated to boutique brand. As marketshare continues to decrease it will be even more difficult to justify their inflated stock price. Hype is all they have for a future business model.

I’ve been running FSD on my Model 3 for almost 2 years, right alongside Openpilot for 4 in my civic. With all of the issues it’s experiencing as of late, from the phantom braking, not reaching the set speed, and very unusual and unsettling lane placement, I sincerely regret ever getting a Tesla. It’s crazy how what essentially is a fancy dashcam on a windshield with two cameras drives the car better than a car built from the ground up for that very purpose with cameras on all sides. Don’t have faith in Robotaxi, at least not in their timeline.

There’s a reason they held this at universal studios. The park is littered with these types of interactions. They have Donkey from Shrek, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, and such. They needed puppeteers and voice actors with crowd interaction experience. I bet you’d be able to detect a slight disconnect between the puppeteering and the voice acting, like it’s maybe two different people.

Honestly, the amount of resources they waste on making fake stuff look real. They could've improved greatly on their QA, MSRP and repair shops.

If you think Teslas vision is the only way to solve autonomy, I guess you forgot Waymo existed. They have cars on the road *right now* driving autonomously. Lidar has always been the best system and vision is just way too limited. And this has been proven already with Waymo vs Tesla.

I appreciate that you are a Tesla fan who is realistic. It cant be doubted that they have great tech and some amazing employees, but the company is at the whims of a man child.

the robots are so far off the mark, like who the frick wants a robot like that, we as a species have already found out that making robots to do particular things is so much better than making a general purpose robot, there's a reason my roomba is a round puck and cleans great and not a weird wobbly robot walking on 2 feet dragging around a broom and a mop.

if they had focused on this telecontrol thing and made that its main goal and selling point, I could see LOTS of use cases: disaster cenarios, maintenance in hard to reach places that are still designed for people, lunar exploration? building stuff in space?! but this promise of an AI babysitter? go away Elon, step down and gtfo, your weird facist visions are ruining every company you have.
